Got on park at 10am today a d was greeted with a hour queue for Smiler from the off. We queued right up until the baggage hold and then Smiler went down. They evacuated the queue line through single riders door. No fastpass offered. So a bad start to the day.

Next in Mutiny Bay toilets my Fiancee had her finger shut in a cubicle door as she was coming out some little cretin pished the door on her back closed.

Off the First Aid and to Towers Trading to get Pin Badges only got corkscrew and Blackhole as others were out of stock. Got told the other were available online but couldn't get website to work. In the end a staff member got the mine train one and rapids one for is from out the back as they had been holding stock. They have now been out on general sale in Towers Trading. In short 3 hours on park no rides done (not really fused as we can use MAP anytime)

Coach park was full including the coach over flow which was also full so they were sanctioning the car park off for more coaches. I knew school week was busy but Damn also the language of some little cretin and also queue fighting was a shocker. Roll on September back to school and walk on rides.

Still pin badges are gotten so redeemed itself really (massive pin collector)
Can you pick my lottery numbers for this weekend?

Just noticed on Alton Towers website that opening times is now 10-6.
Dunno whether this is already known

Sure can do 9 13 23 27 36 41
Still though first time I've ever not been on a single ride in a visit. I've been a few times and just been on Nemesis. We did go back to the hotel for a quick look in the shop.

I visited today...what a mistake! Got there for ERT and managed to do Oblivion and join Smiler queue before 10 and get on it within half an hour by the time I got off it was a 2 hour queue. Did Thirteen single rider and there was loads of queue jumping. Little **** joining single rider and then jumping over once they got let into the station building swapping into general queue which made me mad!! By the time I got off Nemmy was on a 2 hour queue and Rita was down.

Did enjoy chilling on the grass at the bottom of Towers St though.

Oh...and I got asked for ID on the rapids!

This is why they should clean the extension near the station! Also I'd love to have a walk up there for a cool view of the pit :p

IIRC, they haven't used that extension since Air was built due to it being in the ride area. Could be wrong, though.

The top section of queue past the station and loop isn't used anymore due to fast track. As the merge point is before the stairs if the queue went any further up the top then fast track users would wait too long.

Going slightly off topic -

Is there a reason they do very few events other than the staple ones (Fireworks, scarefest). Is it because they simply don't have the budget or is it because Merlin don't think they NEED to do it?

Surely they would make more money by having a well publicised event rather than stripping to the bare bones

Normality has resumed by the looks of it

Publicity and entertainment resources are two different things, a lot of money goes on promotion and usually the bare minimum goes to actual substance or department resources. There is little to no park entertainment anymore, after what was already a very stripped back entertainment department (compared to years gone by or other similar sized theme parks). Only Scarefest that I'm glad they at least still do on a big scale.

Interestingly, the five longest queuetimes currently are all cbeebies rides.
Park seems very quiet considering it is the first Saturday of the summer holidays for most areas.
Postman Pat's queue is longer than the Smiler's!

I'm not surprised. This is pretty much normal. Most people tend to go abroad for the first 4 weeks of the summer holidays. They tend to think that they have the full 6 weeks to decide where to go, so are in no hurry to go out in the first few weeks of the summer holidays. Usually the last couple of weeks of the summer holidays is where the kids tend to get bored and parents then take them out somewhere due to boredom. Especially around the August bank holiday where you will see guest numbers peak at tourist attractions.

I tend to find that weekend and school holidays, the kids rides are usually bigger than the big rides. Term time is usually the other way around
