WOW! 2.5 hours queue for Thirteen!!! Interestingly, you would think the new ride would have the biggest queues.... either its not as popular or its really churning through the queues !

Enterprise 40 mins
Nemesis 40 mins
Spinball Whizzer 60 mins
Galactica 70 mins
Oblivion 70 mins
Wicker Man 75 mins
Rita 80 mins
The Smiler 110 mins
TH13TEEN 150 mins
 
You would think that, but given it's a family wooden roller coaster in comparison to the "omg, 14 loops, sik innit" school teenage mentality on these sorts of trips, I think it's easy to see why The Smiler has one of the longest queues.

I can only imagine and based on track record this season thus far, that Thirteen is being operated abysmally to warrant any form of queue like that.
 
So how has thirteen queue gone down by over an hour in twenty minutes???
Merlin have learnt how to bend time have they.
Was 150 minutes, now 70.
Ride times seem to be working with a random number generator.
 
I was on park this day 2 years ago. My google photos account just sent me a reminder, that's how I know. It was equally as busy if not busier and it was a sweltering 30 degrees.
 
I always found the queue times to be fairly accurate. Same with Thorpe Park.

Problem with Thirteen (at least when I was there) was faffing with bags, like Smiler climbing over the cars makes it quite tricky. The operations plus smaller trains made the queue feel really slow even though (on that day) it was only 20 minutes
 
I'm going to Alton Towers tomorrow now. How have ride operations been this week? How busy has the park been? Iv'e has been before but not since Wickerman. Any tips on which rides to do when?

We went on Tuesday and It was still pretty busy but queue times seem quiet today. Operation was a lot better on Tuesday than it has been. This time around we did thirteen and Rita first since they seem to suffer the heat the most. Then x sector. Then wickerman then over to nemmy and Galactica. But then end of the day oblivian was walk on and small queues on Rita and thirteen so maybe get the wickerman queue out the way first.

Do Wicker Man as one of the first if its not too busy, just in case it suffers during the day - but be prepared, while still awesome it could be a little slower than you expect. Then make sure you're in the queue at closing time then you'll get to ride it at it's most intense and fastest and you will notice a quite a difference in speed!
