Went to the park yesturday, was probably a bit of a waste but we decided to hit the waterpark mid afternoon, so all was not lost. Just a question for ride operators etc out there, does anyone know why Galactica and Oblivion were testing all day but didn't allow anyone on. Was it a maintence issue? Managed to get on Nemmy, Spinball, The Blade and....eurgh Enterprise. Absolutely no movement from the Smiler and as expected The Wicker man, looks impressive though.
 
Half term this year for 95% of schools is within the two weeks of 22 October to 2nd November...apparently.
If you are not into scarefest the last couple of weekdays before it starts are likely to be very quiet...that is the plan for my end of season visit.

Meh, either boycott the park or deal with it and adjust your day accordingly. It's not great but it is certainly not the worst we were going to get.

The one thing that gets me, Enthusiasts kick and scream when the announcement is made initially, Towers / Merlin then seemingly admit defeat and offer a not quite as bad option (but still pretty bad), enthusiasts see the revised options, still aren't happy about it but don't make nearly the same amount of uproar and no one mentions it again! It makes no sense...

Hopefully, Wicker Man brings in the guests and improves things for next season but... I'm pessimistic.
 
I would have thought Wicker Man would open later, as we would think it would take longer to get it ready
(they have to complete a full track-walk as well as test runs).
 
It'll be interesting to see what snow and ice is left on Wicker Man to give us an idea of when it could open.

Their ride times website is a zero sum system, so if there is no 'data' such as the queue time, or a temporary closure on the 'system' it defaults to default status depending on the time of day, if the time of day is before the official ride opening time, it'll say that, regardless of whether the ride is actually going to open at the said time, and after that time unavailable.

Basically you can't rely on ride times being a reliable indicator of a rides availability until the ride opens.

OK the weather over the week end can't be helped, but today? Looks like the current ride offering is completely dire and unacceptable.

Surely this should be the year where Alton has the opportunity to pull back the guest in and show the world that they can be a world class park again. But no, all they seem to be focusing on, is keeping the park offerings to a bare minimum.
