Get into the car park for 08:30. Monorail I believe opens at 09:00 so get in the queue for that. Should be ready then to get into the park at 09:30 once the gates open. Alternatively, get into the car park a little earlier and walk to the park entrance instead of the monorail. Didn't have any roadworks when I went last month.



Depends on what is open unfortunately. If it is known that WM will open in the morning then I would suggest getting in the queue for that as this is the ride which will have the biggest queues all day, plus, who knows if it will stay open all day!!



Depends on how busy it is and what the ride availability is like. If the rides are frequently down and the park is busy with big queues then they may extend the opening, impossible to say really.

I just booked online with a 241 so not a MAP holder or anything. Does that mean I can still get through the turnstiles at 9.30am and then just have to wait until 10am to get into the rest of the park?

yea only 4 out of the 7 main coasters they have
Because all CBeebies open at 10am that’s ok

Well, thats the big question! Depends if the staff are checking the tickets or not. Either way you still need to be in a queue early so you can get in to the park as soon as it opens. The queues on recent days to get in have been very big with only a handful of turnstyles open.
 
My god! Nemesis is still on one train! Was really hoping they would get that back up a week ago.

I'm going again on Monday... I am not looking forward to the busy
 
My son is heading to towers next week with his school. It involves a flight as we're from Northern Ireland and he's going to be pretty peeved off if there's huge queues.

It's with his business studies class and I'm hoping he has to do a case study on it when he returns so he can write on how not to run a business.

I did my business studies a level on AT - let’s just say their business plan doesn’t match mine
 
One thing I can't understand is that in 2018 a lot of theme parks are still using paper tickets, annual passes and fastrack wristbands etc.

Surely this could all be done through an app? Buy your products, take a selfie and your tickets/passes are there with your photograph complete with barcode.

Fastrack barcode on your phone would be scanned at each ride like Universal do albeit they're using paper tickets with your photo on it.

You could input what day(s) you expect to be visiting the park before hand in the case of annual passes etc and this would give the park an insight into how busy they will be and they could also show you what offers etc are available on those dates.

It's hardly rocket science and should cut down queues at the main entrance and box office. If the turnstiles were numbered at the main entrance the app would show you which number to go to saving confusion and controlling the crowds better.

There's the issue if you lose your phone or your battery goes flat etc but they'll have your details and photo that you uploaded in the app on their system so just head to box office for a printed copy.

Or maybe it's not as simple as that ??

Legoland already does it paperless, use either Qbot or own mobile.

If you get a low battery and you are able to get to CS they just scan your QR code and loan you a Qbot for rest of day.

Exactly same setup at BPB as well.

Because not everybody has or wants a smartphone.
 
There is no issue with tickets. It worked fine for years. It's just been mucked about with to save money.

Why can't they have more staff on the gates and then move them to the Fast track Kiosks when it gets quieter? one member of staff costs around £60 per day. They'd only need to sell 3 Bronze tickets to cover their outlay.
 
You can buy theme park tickets online and print at home. Don't see why they cannot do the same with Fastrack etc.. Would certainly help with Box Office queues on the day.

Or they could be old fashioned and send tickets to your home address, which used to be done many moons ago (although I know companies are against all that now to 'save the environment' blah blah blah).

You would think Merlin would love to save money and make claims to save the environment at the same time.

To those that don’t have a smartphone or don’t want to use their own that’s where the Qbot device comes into play, the park loan you the device for the day. It all seems to work well at the parks that currently use it.

For a £200 deposit iirc, so you need a credit card too.

Not everybody has or wants credit cards either (£200 may be wide of the mark, but it's the figure i have in my head.)
 
Fifty quid at BPB.
Can leave cash, good value for basic...fifteen quid I think, means you wait your turn, but can wait in the bar!
Excellent system, works from velvet coaster too!
 
:rolleyes: If it’s anything thing like the £50 they take as a room deposit when you check in to the hotel, then takes them a week or more to release the retention on it back to your account

That’s pretty standard in the payments industry for any pre-authorisation.
