2018: Park Operations & Ride Availability

Maybe dropping some safety first practices and getting rides going quicker again due to complaints?

Was that a joke?

I get what he's saying. Look at the rapids for example. Absolutely unnecessary.

They needed to change their practices and procedures after the smiler but maybe they had taken it too far which drastically increased the downtime.

Is it possible they've cut some of the red tape so to speak (not necessarily making anything less safe) and we are seeing better reliability as a result?

That's exactly what i'm saying. Understandably, they took a safety at all costs approach after The Smiler incident. When a ride goes down it takes a long time to get it back going again, i read somewhere that a senior member of staff has to be called to get a ride checked and up and running.. Now the park is very busy perhaps they've decided that it has a negative effect on the visitor experience?

There's a balance to be struck between faster operations and safety at all costs. I hope they've found the right one.

Although I agree with the overall sentiment I would not assume all the changes have been unnessesery. Certainly the change in the maximum number of guests in a boat on the rapids is something they had no choice about. Not sharing boats is a stupid decision though.

This is interesting. So for the first time in 25 or so years of visiting the park I sent a complaint into AT about the sub standard accommodation and the staggered ride openings. With regards the ride opening times, they said:

"In regards to the staggered ride opening times, as our park is expanding, we are having to stagger opening times due to the amount of power used if we were to open the rides all at once - it often causes an electricity black out in the surrounding area. Therefore we try to prioritise rides in close by areas together for our early ride time so that it is the most efficient way for our guests to enjoy the park. "

So, they cant open them at once due to the power consumption and risk of a black out? I know the park suffered these on and off in the past - do we think this may be true????

People believing any old nonsense is why the world is so buggered right now...

Oh I can tell you something funnier than that..... When I went to the enchanted village reception last weekend to ask for a fan, and was told there aren't any, the manager said that Splash Landings hotel has fans in the rooms because of its "tropical climate". Personally, I wasn't aware of the Caribbean micro climate that just encapsulates the hotel!
