Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but in my opinion, the twistiness, the airtime and the relentless second half of Icon that's packed with airtime and laterals really make it something quite special. I will happily admit that it's not the most intense coaster, but I certainly don't find it forceless; that second half especially is quite forceful!

I personally seek a good balance between thrill, fun and rerideability in a coaster, and for me, Icon strikes this balance perfectly! Different things suit different people in a coaster, but there's a very good reason why Icon is my #2 coaster behind Mako at SeaWorld Orlando from my perspective!

I seem to remember the second half carrying pretty good speed when I rode, but bear in mind that the ride reportedly warms up a lot, and I didn't take my first rides on it until 2pm, so I didn't experience the apparent "slow Icon" in the morning.

I agree, I expected so much from the second launch and got nothing more than a gentle push to keep its momentum going. For me, the coaster is just a little too long and I got the impression they ran out of ideas towards the end so just put in a few twists and turns.

Some of the American coasters suffer the same problem - they are just a little too long for me. Admittedly I've only done the Florida coasters and as intense and great as many of them are, some just go on for too long and towards the end I was like "ok, that's enough, I'm bored now". I just hope I don't get that feeling when I eventually get to ride Taron!

Many people slate Nemesis and Wicker Man as being too short, but personally they are just right length to get a thrill and make you want to re-ride. And I didn't get that with Icon.
 
As I have said before it's not about the speed for me on Icon, In fact the speed strikes just the right ballence to go though the elements slow enough to give time to appreciate them and the airtime hill on it gives some fantastic floaty airtime too combined with being a good length. Its great fun and reridable. Looking forward to trying out its bigger brother Helix on the hour ERT session when I go on the PBE Lisiberg trip in July.

Nemesis is still my favourite ride at towers by some margin and a fantastic coaster. Montu just edges it out as an invert for me due to its fantastic second half- truly the coaster that keeps giving.
 
So after going to the park yesterday, I was very surprised by how small a space the smiler is actually in. When you think about the fact there's 14 inversions! It doesn't look as big as you'd expect
 
Mmm 50 minutes for Galactica no thank you. Queuing for 3 hours for the first time in 2002 was bad enough but these days it’s just not worth it it unless it’s 10 and under.

It won't be that long. Especially if you go early on in the day. I normally do Wickerman first and then go straight to Forbidden Valley for about 11am. Queues at that time are never normally longer than 5-10 minutes at that time of day.
