Interesting list. I was at the park yesterday so I thought Id post my own version.

2. Air (Galactica)
3. Nemesis

5. Oblivion

7. Spinball
8. Smiler
I haven't been on Smiler since 2015 but I didn't like it then. The theming was too weird for me and the number of inversions was just unpleseant and a gimmick imo. But I'm glad there's people who enjoy it.

I find the smiler and wicker man much more enjoyable than the other coasters. Don't get me wrong the 3 B&Ms are good, but not as fun. Nemesis is overrated imo, oblivion is too short and galactica is uncomfortable. But they're still better than th13teen, which is underwhelming to say the least, and rita which is bang average at best

Whilst I actually agree i think it’s so highly rated as It was a game changer for the UK industry. Realistically it’s never been succeeded

I'd pretty much totally agree with that!

I'd probably switch Oblivion and Thirteen though. I actually prefer the Runaway Mine Train to Galactica so i'd insert that somewhere too.

Top 3 is spot on from my point of view.
 
Hopefully sw9 will be a mack mega coaster as that would be amazing. Something like icon and it'd be the best on park
 
I highly doubt we'll see a Mack mega coaster now that Icon exists. Also, I haven't done Icon yet but judging by reviews I'd rather see an Intamin equivalent at Towers.

Yeah, I don’t really get the enthusiasm for Icon, like... and I’m not even comparing it against anything specific here, I just don’t think it’s a very good coaster in the general scheme of things.

I could easily get behind an Intamin launch coaster though – even when the only one I’ve ridden is Rita – because even though the layout is very uninspiring, the launch is great. I can easily see how it could be a big hit with coaster enthusiasts and regular park visitors alike if the layout after the launch was longer and more interesting.

Ive never been too overly impressed with intamin (apart from Stealth that is). I think I'd rather see Vekoma make a return to the park. Possibly a launched sit down coaster with inversions or an out and back of some kind. Something we haven't had before.
 
So Alton Towers could remove Rita and replace it with... an Intamin launched coaster?

There's no way they would ever do that. Imagine trying to market a ride that's the same as the one it replaced.

Nemesis is great, the best coaster in the UK. But if the Mitch Hawker poll was to be run again I am confident that it would not feature in the top 10, maybe not even the top 20.

Agreed. Feel like people have lost perspective as to what Nemesis really offers. Sure, not the best roller coaster in the world but certainly a heck of a lot better than TG Cruse's sorry mistake and the world's smallest GCI.

Nemesis was a landmark coaster and is absolutely brilliant but times have changed and there are now a lot better coastere out there. Heck I would vote Montu, another B&M invert as my top inverted coaster.

Nemmy is still my no 2 in the UK though after icon and is tied with Swarm

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion; there are some people who don't find it as interesting as some of the park's newer rides. I personally think Nemesis is my favourite Alton Towers ride, but my family think I'm mad for not liking The Smiler or Wicker Man better!

However, I do think that some do sometimes put Nemesis on a slightly high pedestal. Even though it is a fantastic ride (an easy 10/10 for me) and my favourite coaster at Alton Towers, Nemesis is neither my favourite B&M invert nor is it my favourite UK coaster. As far as B&M inverts go, Montu just tops Nemesis for me; it's got a bit more to it with equal intensity. That batwing is something else! In terms of UK coasters, Icon is my favourite, and I did prefer The Swarm to Nemesis for a while.
 
I know it’s all opinions and that’s what makes discussion, for me you can’t even compare nemesis and icon, they are leagues apart in every aspect.
