2019: General Discussion
There are gonna be a lot of fails on the Big 6 challenge on 4pm close days.
The park is run by Merlin - failures are the standard modus operandi. It matters not whether it is operating hours, food & beverage, poor operations, breakdowns, poor quality accommodation, constant up-sells etc. Merlin's sole aim is to ensure the guest leaves with as much money extracted from their wallet / purse as possible.
Yes, other theme park operators have the same general aim [to extract money]. The difference with the likes of Disney & Universal is they do it with a very high quality product offering. Yes, the guest knows they are being fleeced, but the product quality [and doubtless excited offspring] halfway justify it.

I thought AT was remarkable value for money personally;-)
The worrying thing is your spot on - it’s not an experience anymore. This is the first season I haven’t bothered going. Normally I would have been 2-3 times by now. I don’t mind being fleeced - it’s the nature of the business - but at least fleece me with some dignity intact

I had a wonderful time being fleeced at universal and Disney and think I spent something around £40 just on butter beer at Studios.....
Thing is the food and drink at Disney is actually really good and I had some incredible eats out there. If food at towers didn't look like some of those pictures that nearly made me vomit a few pages back I would actually spend money on park rather than bringing a big cool bag with far tastier food in!

Place your bets on another cryptic clue coming out in the next few days featuring a font from one of the other coasters. Then another different one, then another different one..........

For the love of all that is holy. You want to hope Merlin don't read this. I can see the opening times being adjusted next year in response to this 'guest feedback'.
Alton Towers, open daily from 10am until 1pm.

Just in case any of you weren't aware already, wicker man closed about 12:15 on thursday and has remained closed since. The park says it's due to maintanance, but bad news. I was there on thursday and spoke to a staff member as to why it was shut. One did just say to me 'technical difficulties'. However I heard them talking about the lift hill. Seemed fine bareing in mind I was on 10 mins before it shut. If it is to do with the lift, it may take a while to fix...
Indeed, i noticed that last year when Wickeman first opened, It wasn't terribly reliable and The Smiler (which has been very reliable the last few years) seems to end up with a huge queue when the Wickerman is downHopefully wicker man opens again soon as the smiler's queue is suffering massively because of it

Big Six Challenge becomes Big Seven when you add the (upcharge) Dungeons?
A testament to the failure of the Dungeons to attract paying customers perhaps?
