That looks nothing like The Ultimate, how dare they.
Wait until you see how they draw the Ultimate on the map ;)

The looming threat of Walliams at the towers is truly terrifying. Was this the evil that 13 warned us about? Are the wraiths actually Walliams IP’s in hoods? Only time will tell...

Also, whilst watching the trailer, there was a second in which I thought that it was hinting at gutting Hex for gangster granny. Good lord... could you imagine?

Jeeez, people have far too much time on their hands if they are going indepth about the new "logo". Who cares, it looks good, its immediately identifiable as Alton Towers - I dont see whats not to like - or analyse about it!

So.... any idea on the actual ride system? I'm going to assume some kind of basic car-on-track that slowly trundles past 2D cardboard cut outs and a few 2nd hand TVs.
Trundle is such a great word for this. Respect.

I'm expecting a smaller, indoor version of Postman Pat's Parcel post, but with different plastic characters, the aforementioned cardboard cut outs, a premium laminated 2d cardboard cut out of Walliams himself, followed by exit to a shop where you can buy Walliams books.

Exciting?

To be fair, most of us, myself included underrated Wicker Man.

As said by John Wardley: "Get. A. Life!" ;)

Does anyone know if Leek Signs got the contract for the indoor themeing o_O

John Wardley... Retired

Industrial Light and Magic... Too expensive

Disney - Rival

Universal Studios - Rival

Leek Signs - still in the running...

I know the joke you are making, but I wouldn't be surprised if in reality it is a company like Seeper http://www.seeper.com/work as they did Gruffalo and Room on the Broom at Chessington and some other work for Merlin.

Well yet again I have been disappointed after the build up to something. Until they actually put a poster out with 'sw9' on it my excitement levels are remaining low

What build up? I think everyone’s been expecting a kids ride in the David Williams area.

I too am disgusted at the inaccuracies within the new 2020 logo.

To be a true representation of Alton Towers, I demand the logo consists of the breeze block wall when you come out of the RMT tunnel on the rapids, a Danger of Death sign and graphics flaking off the walls on the Galactica bridge.

So with the 2020 season approaching, will we see a massive change in popularity this year due to it being the parks 40th anniversary? After the smiler was slowly creeping up on wicker man last season, will it finally take over as the most popular coaster on the park once more?

They may get a few more familes in attendance due to the new Walli World. Absolutely nothing to entice thrill seekers to make a special visit. Can see it being a pretty flat or slightly quieter year all things considered.

If they dont do the £15 bring a friend tickets this year with the season passes then I can see gate numbers being lower than last year

I can only hope they don't, not great for business but great for getting more rides in

It was great for business. The profits are made on food, drink and merchandise sales, not tickets

I think Ethan was talking from a personal perspective, saying that it's great for him to get more rides in if they don't do 'bring a friend' whilst acknowledging that it's not good for business for Towers.

Just the same as I (selfishly) wish they would get rid of the cheap season passes. A nice quiet park for me but obviously Towers would miss out on all the profit on food and drinks etc. I remember the good old days when the park was open every day of the week with no cheap season passes and just being really quiet. Almost walk on rides on quiet midweek days very regularly. Obviously Towers decided that this wasn't good for business though so had to put a stop to it when the budget was seriously tightened.

Not going this year ourselves due to nothing new there for us. We're giving energylandia a go instead.

In fairness we can't expect towers to build a new coaster every 1 or 2 years. A couple of decent flats wouldn't go amiss though.
