To the individuals in the offices at Alton, stop enjoying your popcorn whilst watching our posts

    It's 8pm next week.

More rides = more queue lines to spread out crowds. By May there will be 7 more rides than last year to add capacity.

More rides spreads the people out.
For example if there was 1000 people and two rides, then roughly 500 in each queue. Add two more rides and its 250 in each queue. Let in 1200 people instead and its 300 in each queue, still lower than when it was only two rides.
Obviously it isn't that simple as some rides are more popular and throughputs differ. But in general once the indoor rides open in May they should be able to allow more people into the park.

I really don't think the flat rides will make much of a difference. People go to towers to go on the coasters. Can't see these rides getting much of a queue

Support rides are there to soak up guests and to remove pressure off larger rides. They aren't going to cut queues by huge amounts but if coasters are 10% shorter once we get all the indoor rides open too, that's all time in your pocket.

Europa-Park has 60 rides. With that number, many barely get a queue at all.

The park don't want the rides to have a queue, the idea is to offer an alternative to large coasters, with their often large queues.

Their primary objective is to reduce negative feedback. "I only got on 3 rides all day" or similar was a regular and quite damaging message to be plastered around social media.

People go to a theme park to have a good day out. Not everyone just wants to do non-stop coasters.
Maruders Mayhem (teacups), Enterprise and other rides are still popular.

*Coaster enthusiasts go to Alton Towers for the coasters. Many people go for a more rounded day out and don't necessarily enjoy spending their entire day in back to back hour long queues for coaster after coaster.

This is one of the thing Alton Towers has really suffered with in recent years that they just haven't had the variety of experiences that attract a broader crowd and it may well be one of the reason why attendance figures have stayed pretty static since 2015, even after quality additions like Wicker Man.

8250 for opening day, but thats in line with last year when it was low on opening before rapidly ramping up.

yep and despite its short length Gangsta Granny is a good step in the right direction. More non-thrill attractions that aren’t CBeebies are definitely needed.
Even properly opening up the Towers and adding some more signage telling you what the rooms used to be as a sort of discovery trail would be a good addition to give a break in between thrill rides.

Not sure, as it's changed again on the website. We'll have to keep an eye on it.

Ripsaw was still very popular when it was removed - in fact the only past flat I can think of which would struggle to consistently get a decent loading on a busy enough day was Submission, I guess Dynamo too sadly (although for different reasons).

Well it does help if you can get the ride to operate every now and again.

even if there are 30-40 people in a queue line for these 4 new rides at once, that would be on average 120-160 people not in queues for bigger coasters which would probably only shave like 15 minutes off or something in theory? Even if it's only a small decrease, it still means there's options to get more done in a day.

I remember being sat on the ride on a busy school trip day, June 2003. Had to wait a good 10 minutes before they had enough on board to start the ride, and I think that might have only been a half-load.

Something about that spot is cursed.
