I like how you struggle to tell if it's Svalgur or a slide!

I sense a new game coming on... Svalgur or slide!?

Svalgurok looking very close to completion. The planned opening had been 22nd May however with the park remaining closed it will likely open with the park post lockdown (which as infections in the region decrease may actually be not that much later than that date according to the local news and government). Pictures from Rulantica's Facebook.

Really does look great, they still could do with a water coaster/master blaster though! This really does look like an excellent addition to Rulantica, properly filling a gap in the slide lineup!![]()

This is just a mid-scale family area, rather than a large addition. A Master Blaster scale addition would go well in the park, it looks like we're getting a ProSlide Rally Racer next (2022 or 2023), but I am sure a large addition will be added beyond that, such as a Master Blaster.

I imagine they'll develop Rulantica in a similar way to the main park expanded. Lots of family attractions to bulk up the park and slowly introduce bigger attractions once it's more established.
It's interesting to look at the parks RCDB page and realise they had 6 roller coasters before Silver Star became there first thrill coaster. And you can see the progression from alpine express, building up to the Euro's and then a collection of bigger rides after Silver Star.

The new slide tower was said to have 3 new slides - one of which is the 8 lane RallyRacer. While the RallyRacer is probably the signature marketable attraction; who knows maybe of the other slides could be an Aquacoaster/masterblaster too.
Although for year around/weather proof operation it might be clever to save it for the second indoor hall, have it weaving in and around the areas. However that would leave us with quite the wait probably. Can't see something that major so soon especially post covid.
Nevertheless Svalgurok is looking great. Love the amount of theming and attention paid to the colours and patterns on the slides. Sure to be a hit with families in the summer.

Increases capacity and spreads the crowds out more though. You don't actually need that many new slides in a waterpark, do you. It's not like a theme park, where new rides are a big deal. New stuff is nice, especially if it adds capacity, but it doesn't make as much of a difference to your day as new rides in a theme park.

Rulantica reopened today - the park has so far spent more days closed than open since it first opened November 2019. With it the 3 new attractions, Svalgurok, Snorri Strand and Snorri Snorkling VR have officially opened too.
It was also announced a VIP Yacht for private hire is being added to the outdoor area.
The basement level with all the technical eqiupment, pumps, storage tanks is also built to connect/support future outdoor expansions.
The outdoor area's new food court.

A video has been uploaded to the Snorri Facebook page which shows Snorri sneaking onto Svalgurok, despite "sixtopuses" being prohibited.
For some reason I can't embed it, but here is a Tweet with the same video:

Sadly the new outdoor areas are now closed until May 2022.
Following on from that - when they say 'open May' does that mean 1st May or some date within May?
I only ask as I'm planning a trip next year week starting May 9th - and wonder if it will be open?
