[2022] 'Eatrenalin' Innovative Restaurant

This sounds utterly, utterly bizarre, I must admit; I’ll be intrigued to see what it’s like when it opens!

I mean, I’m sure it’ll be great, as I’m very much a fan of Mack’s other restaurant innovation based on my experiences at the Rollercoaster Restaurant at Alton Towers, but from reading that, it sounds utterly, utterly bizarre; possibly one of the strangest theme park concepts I’ve ever seen devised.

I’ve got a question; could this possibly be a prerequisite to Mack starting to manufacture trackless ride systems that are used in actual dark rides as opposed to this restaurant context?

Mack don’t currently offer a trackless ride system for mass production among their dark ride offerings, but that press release certainly implies that Mack will be in charge of manufacturing the ride system, and it won’t be someone with more experience in trackless rides like ETF coming in and building it.

What are your thoughts? I personally wouldn’t be too surprised to see Mack introduce a trackless dark ride system based on the way dark rides seem to be moving.
 
The hardware for trackless dark rides isn’t particularly complicated, it’s the location tracking and motion programming. Mack will almost certainly use Siemens for that.
 
Mack have worked with ETF before. They could collaborate as they did with Volo da Vinci.

What the actual....!

So many questions. What happens when the ride system breaks down mid-meal? Does the trackless system transport you seamlessly to the toilet?

Intriguing to say the least, and depending on the price it will no doubt be very popular.
 
What a wonderfully silly concept. No doubt this will be hideously expensive too.

I've also found this plan view of the experience - it doesn't seem like there's a vast amount of kitchen space or other general facilities within the building.

Mack has a pretty good batting average when it comes to producing innovative and entertaining concepts. There's a good chance that this will be something good. Europa Park has a big fan base who will no doubt be keen to give it a go. Europa Park also has a talented team of engineers, who will presumably make sure it works at least most of the time.

If they're going to roll the concept out into major cities around the world, they're going to have to find a way to explain the concept in a way that quickly grabs people. It might also be harder for an independent restaurant thousands of miles from the Mack factory to keep the technology running reliably. I think it will be easier to make this concept work at Europa Park than in a city, but I'm sure Mack have thought of that. This is an intriguing and exciting project.
 
Is this really going to open this summer? If so, it takes precedence over the Michelin joint for me. Such a ludicrous idea.

In regards to the toilets, I imagine that you will be able to leave the car when it's not in motion, and can't imagine it will be doing anything particularly dynamic when it is.

You're probably right, but I hope you're wrong. I'm hoping this will be like a really sophisticated food fight where the cars go whizzing around really quickly and everyone's hurling food at each other. Or it could be a bit like the Jim'll Fix at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, but without the Jimmy Saville bit.

Everyone is expecting this to be a really upmarket, quality experience.

I hope it's like Superstar Limo but with food.

Jimmy Saville might even fit in.

Is it possible you could try and re-post the plan image or the link to it please?
 
I guess a lot of the food will be the type to cook in front of you looking at some of the concept images, make it part of the ride and experience, rather than just bringing you a plate of food from the kitchen,

I also imagine it will be marketed a lot towards businesses and events, as you could easily hire the whole place out and spend hours in there on a corporate day out or trying to impress new business partners.

It will also be interesting to see exactly what ride systems are used and how, as we all know that food and motion-based rides don't really mix :p
 
Toilet wise - I Guess the experience is time limited (1.5 hrs my guess) so there'll be a waiting area where guests are told they need to use the loo before experience - much in the same way that some theatre experiences or transport systems (cable cars/trains etc which don't have an onboard toilet) - warning guests!

otherwise i guess there will be checkpoints along the route where the ride will stop and guests can disembark!

OR indeed there will be special 'buttons' guests press (maybe a call button back to guest services) - who in turn could route the car to a facilities. This sort of call system will be useful incase of spills or other issues people have mentioned, Maybe a bit like when your light flashes red at a self-service till - which alert staff to attend to you!
i Guess being trackless this will be much easier to do as cars can be independently controlled without disruption to the rest of the convoy!

I imagine the food and drink will be tasting samples as apposed to substantial meals (think nouveau cuisine portions) - to control time for one reason! I wouldn't be surprised if you need to still get dinner after!

Think of it more as a dark ride which incorporates the taste sense as apposed to a restaurant I think!
