2023: The Curse at Alton Manor

Me too! Expect it won’t be working, it wasn’t when I visited on the 27th, it hasn’t since, and I don’t think It had a while before that either

The trommel has had problems for years, and they did manage to do some work to get it working pretty reliably last year. But it is no surprise that it's playing up again, as I'd imagine the only way to completely sort it would be to replace it entirely. And that would prove challenging and costly.

Wasn’t working again yesterday. We went on it 3 times through the day. The first 2 were pretty terrible. The timing of the triggering of the effects was slightly too late. You’d almost pass the scene by the time they activated. Few effects were totally off all day too.

Some nice additions to the pre-show with more physical props added. I’d never seen the left hand side of the hand side animate before so wasn’t sure if that was new? You could see guests of the manor in the left-hand side

We rode twice yesterday and everything triggered on time, except for the lightning bolt on the first run through, it wasn't working at all. It was later. I think there's a set of doors in the dollhouse section that has a "melted face" doll behind that are broken. I'm pretty sure they are supposed to open and close anyway, but were just stuck open. Other than that, great. Still not convinced with the flying heads section though

Our ride at 5PM was almost perfect except the finale where the Emily head was almost behind us when it lit up and screamed

There's still sections where it is just a lot of pitch black and nothing. My Dad said "if there were live actors in those places to jump out that would make it insane"
They did this on the first Scarefest if I remember. Think it started late afternoon, closed over lunchtime I think so actors could get ready. Had a butler who answered the door. The concept didn't really work to be honest and health and safety would probably have kittens in todays soft world.

The first Scarefest? When even was that? Certainly before my time on these pages. Early 'thousands, somewhere? Maybe even late '90s?
(I assume you meant last year, the first 'fest of Curse. Just taking the oppertunity to derail the thread. ;) )

Rode this today…

From the bits I can remember…

- stained glass window effect a little late
- the floating Emily screen/peppers ghost at the end of the grand hallway appears broken/too light
- trommels still broken
- demon “grow” projection area too light
- UV hands area too light
- dolls head trap door stuck open (towards end)
- giant Emily hand projector screen wasn’t working
- giant Emily head lit up far too bright and too early

Given the great promise about things will work, it’s still at 80% and not consistent
