2023: The Curse at Alton Manor

The big Emily effect at the end yesterday wasn't working, the false roof didn't drop and no lighting. Air cannons on fine though. And no fire effect/lighting on trommel.

The Emily hide and seek animatronic hasn’t worked all season so no one could have had a perfect run through.

The head that comes out of the toxic barrel is now missing entirely so again, can’t be a perfect run through.

Clock is running different speed to the trommel.
Well it was working when I went on it, all 3 times, on the 28th March. The head in the toxic barrel was also there, and working fine. So as I said, 3 perfect run throughs

I was going to say the same, this forum complains a lot about issues within the park, just for said issues to be a non-issue 75% of the time…

Some people really do miss the forest for the trees.

The head was turned around and loose on the mechanism on opening day. Then the next day it was off, yesterday it was removed completely and not operating…

So are you suggesting they fixed it and then removed it again? Just for clarity this is the one on the left side of the ride, not the right.

It has operated correctly. It was working on the second Saturday of AAD

It's good to see that most things are working, considering that this ride in well into its third season. Everything but one of the effects (one of the Horror Dome props first used in Duel) was functional.

It is, but it is clear that one of the main aims of the refurbishment was reliability. So less reliance of physical effects, more reliance on clever lighting and video FX. Something inherently more reliable. Given this refocus and change, I would expect them to be working.

It is when the park start tinkering with things and all the timing slowly gets nocked out of sync is when I would start worrying.

To give credit where credit is due, I had a practically flawless run through of Curse yesterday. Pretty much everything I could think of was working; even the notoriously unreliable mirror effect was working!

I think Curse grows on me every time I ride it, and I seem to find myself noticing new details every time as well. It's certainly a huge improvement on Duel, and the whole experience is massively more cohesive, even if I'll admit that the air cannons still make me a bit jumpy!

I love Curse at Alton Manor perfect unique ride for Alton Towers we need more Dark Rides like it around the park would like to see what this company can do with other themes preferably something more family oriented with a lighter theme
