2024: General Discussion

I hope the budget saved on Mardi Gras and Festival of Thrills is either reinvested in the other events or used to provide more permanent entertainment across the whole season.

Interesting that fireworks stays as three days. The Towers and Merlin passes all block out 7-10 Nov, so either they are still working on the possibility of adding in that 4th date and just haven’t had confirmation before needing to market the events or the idea has been scrapped.

The best bit about Mardi Gras was the food.

I wouldn’t mind them just having a ‘street food village’ instead.

I actually think this is a sensible choice so budgets can be better used elsewhere, improve Existing event offering. I think the overall opinion last year was “less is more” we prefer quality over quantity. Did they announce the smiler event and random summer event prior to opening last year?

I actually think this is where some bloggers are actually helping the park by addressing certain flaws as they happen.

So £80 for Oblicion and £65 for Wicker Man. How does that compare to the price of Thorpe's track walks? (never done them or even looked into them)

£65 for Swarm or Colossus at Thorpe. Doesn’t look like that price includes a one shot fastrack, whereas the Towers one does.

Mardi Gras felt like it was really hitting its stride last season, seems a shame to have pulled the plug on it now.
Yeah I thought the same. Unless it's still to be announced. I mean it would be odd given that everything else has been announced but stranger things have happened!!

We’ve managed to book a Wickerman track walk for 2 people in June, but they have been snapped up extremely quickly so I wouldn’t be surprised if they add more in the future. The bookings include complimentary express parking as well as fasttrack for the ride so it’s pretty good value IMO

I will be very disappointed if Mardi Gras has been binned off, it felt like a really good event last year and seemed to be pretty popular with guests. I was hoping for progression with events in 2024, not regression.
Curious that Nemesis is completely absent from this press release? Also not mentioned in the lineup of rides in the dark.
I suspect there will be a completely separate press release regarding Nemesis nearer to opening. Although I think it is planned to be open from the start of the season, it is probably still too early for them to officially commit to that.

I hope the budget saved on Mardi Gras and Festival of Thrills is either reinvested in the other events or used to provide more permanent entertainment across the whole season.
The video shows pirate entertainers so its possible they have added more of that back and there is also now characters at dinner in the hotel, so I would hope there is more year-round entertainment. A proper stage show is still needed I think.

Nemesis is shown in the video and the press release Squiggs posted says "Guests can enjoy an after-hours adventure and ride world-class rollercoasters in the dark including Wicker Man, The Smiler and Oblivion." Therefore I assume it would mainly be the coasters, I expect CBeebies, Rapids, Battle Galleons etc all to close at dusk or 6pm.

Maybe I'm reading between the lines too much, but does this suggest they might be introducing Alton Bear as a park mascot?
