Well, you can clearly see in the photo. Due to the way the bin bag is sitting, that the rail is clearly missing from underneath.

I remeber it. They replaced the rail.

You can make welds pretty much invisible to the eye and not able to be felt. Other industries that do this all the time are the railways, with their continuiously welded rail. You can't see or feel the welds once they are done. The whole section has never been replaced. The rail has. Maybe you are not an engineer so struggle to work out how some of this stuff is done?

Lots of rides (including Nemesis) have had individual rail ties replaced too. You do not have to replace an entire track section if there is a problem you know. They are working with steel, a very very workable material. Same applies for ships, trains, railways ect ect.

I remember it happening also.

You can see they had also put in place some temporary ‘ties’ on each side of the removed piece, presumably to stop the remaining parts of the rail from becoming mishapen while there was a gap?

Admittedly not the best photo (its a screenshot from a slo mo video I took) but you can see where the ties with the bolts on have been cut away, compared to that photo. It looks like they could well have done the other rail as well.

Absolutely no chance of it being this year given Covid situation etc. They need all their major rides operating to help split crowds.

I'm sure it will soldier on for a few more years as yet. A huge revamp won't be too far away though I'm sure.

What promo is this that you refer to. I haven't seen any adverts or anything this year ahead of the opening

Nothing too major, website and also their twitter post today which highlighted all the major rides including nemesis.

I'm assuming if there were significant plans to refurb then they'd not include it in the post but never say never I guess.

I heard it was having technical problems recently but I imagine it should be fine for opening

End of last season it ran into some issues and didn't operate for maybe the last 2 weeks or so iirc.

I went early October in the Scottish school hols when most rides were walk on so got everything done a number of times. Happy days.
 
I thought for week days the park felt busier than normal last year. There was one day I've been in September every year where you could get walk ons, whereas last year there was 30-40 min queues

I noticed that too. It was probably because there wasn’t a quiet time in Spring like usual. Lots of pass holders wanting to get some use of their cards and furlough probably helped I imagine for those who didn’t want to go in the school holidays.
 
People might have usually been on holiday in a usual year as well, but with so many people not going it was probably just an alternative.
In regards to Nemesis, I do remember it being down for the final 3/4 days of last season for some reason.
 
Had an eventful day with nemesis today myself! failed to engage with the lift whilst I was on the train, they restarted and it carried on as usual. I was almost hoping for an evac haha! But as I went down to ride again before leaving via the galactica exit, both trains were off the track and none in the station. both seemed to be in the maintenance shed and the ride was cordoned off, didn’t look overly promising to me, but could just be a niggle they’ve been managing over these last few days. I also noticed a different batching procedure, that was seemingly slowing operations... they were only allocating rows just as the previous guests were leaving the station, meaning there was a slight lag in loading the next guests, resulting in the other train waiting on the brake run for a minute or two at times.

maybe I’m completely mistaken, apologies. I’m still learning certain technicalities. It just started to climb the lift, jolted and then stopped in position right at the bottom just outside the station, all then went silent until a beep and then it restarted. If anyone could explain exactly what this meant then would appreciate for future reference
