[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

DigitalDan used to go on a lot about Nemesis being better but he only recently changed his opinion to Inferno. I feel like the people or started this were Kieran Adams, Jack Silkstone ect they were the first people to really state their Inferno < Nemesis. The opinion has started to catch on but luckily i'm still with the better original Nemesis!

Amen to that!I think vloggers have a lot to answer for, driven by the constant desire to list things and talk about the same stuff over and over again as slaves to an algorithm.
Many of them certainly live up to the term "influencer" whether they intend to influence or not

Yh that's true tbh especially some channels who just want to drive home the constant points we all know aka Vekoma SLCs suck, Hero is a bad ride ect.I think vloggers have a lot to answer for, driven by the constant desire to list things and talk about the same stuff over and over again as slaves to an algorithm.

Not sure if anyone's seen but someone has put in the Merlin Annual Passholders Facebook group that a ride tech from Towers has told them today that Nemesis will be undergoing an overhaul that will take it out of operation for a season! Would insert a picture but I'm not sure how and I forgot to screenshot haha!

Surely the only reason a B&M coaster would need to close for a whole season is for a complete re-tracking.
Which can only mean one thing: RMC Nemesis confirmed.

I'm not surprised, as given the status of Nemesis I thought they'd choose retrack before removal.
Also, Shawn Sanbrooke posted a review yesterday!

Not sure how true it is of course but here's the bit of the post about Nemesis. Not a fan of Shawn after the handling of the allegations but am sure it's an informative watch
I’ve had friends in the past working as ride ops and hosts, they tell me things time to time and I always now take it with a pinch of salt. I mean if all I was told by one guy was true, sub Terra would be open now and blade would be gone... I’m not saying they are lying at all, but information between ride ops and hosts turns into Chinese whispers, with misinformation unfortunately being spread without intention.

It's always been the same, some things turn out to be spot on, others are bobbins. Ride ops were saying Valhalla was going to close for a year, those 'in the know' said "No chance, this is incorrect" and now here we are with it confirmed it will be closed for two years.

The drone footage someone posted on here from the other day shows some scaffolding on both sides the vertical loop.
I’m assuming that’s just winter maintenance though..

I'd be more surprised if there wasn't scaffolding in the Nemesis pit at this time of year.
A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a lady who works in finance at Alton Towers. I said it must get a bit boring, just looking at numbers all the time, but she said she finds it interesting because no two days are the same. Then she said, “Last week I had to order a big skip to put the Nemesis ride in. Shame to see it go, really”.
Being serious, how well informed the staff are about future developments will depend partly on the park. In Merlin’s case I get the impression that quite a lot of decisions are quite last minute, so no one knows for sure what’s going to happen until near the time. There also tends to be a lot of management changes that might affect things.
But if they’re planning to refurbish a ride, I can imagine that the technicians would know, because it could affect which parts they order. You might not want to order a load of spares for a ride that’s going to be ripped out at the end of the season. Given that this is Merlin, non-safety critical parts might not get fixed at all if they break and the ride’s going soon. The engineers are having to make decisions like, “Do we weld the part or replace it?”, so for them knowing which rides are likely to go soon is genuinely useful.

And if this upgrade happens then it could mean new trains or new track potentially new theming I doubt that though! I hope it's not out for the season because it is one of the UK's best rollercoasters far superior over Inferno ( inferior)! Still it's better seeing it closed for one season than forever and hopefully we'll have clarification from AT on it soon!
