[2024] Voltron Nevera | Mack Stryker Coaster

If that's permanent that's a pity as it means the main queue won't pass past the animatronic anymore, though I suppose they've got the new weta workshop animatronic outside now.

Anyone who was caught using the SRQ to queue jump should've been ejected from the park (preferably by some sort of Mack catapult)

Really hoping this will be another example of Europa Park fan outrage, like with the porch on the courtyard of Hotel Colosseo, or more recently the fencing in the Andaluz garden, and it will actually be totally fine how it ends up. Something to experience for one’s self, I fancy.

For the event, the hall was repurposed for seating. Whilst today, temporary queue extensions have been put in. Most popular theory over there is that it's a temporary summer queue extension that may or may not over stay it's welcome.

There's also mentions of the music being turned off on the turntable and replaced with a countdown, and the addition of disposable bags at the exit stairs for those who have underestimated how intense the ride is 🤢

It is the one baffling thing about Voltron, the queue is really quite short and boxed in making extensions difficult.

I know it will reduce in popularity over time but it’s still going to need some hefty queue capacity during busy times like Hell week.

My guess is they will just add more queue to that area, I’m sure when I went the queue line to the entrance was only about 40 mins, even if the entrance sign said more. And when I was there the park wasn’t particularly busy, I imagine it gets a mess when it’s busy and the queue is bursting into the area.

Also I’m sure when I went in June I don’t remember see that big lever or anything, there was just the animatronic and those other bits and pieces in the middle.

But it will be a shame that they have removed all that theming in the middle and put it and the side, and will mean the whole inside will just be a cattle pen I guess, which is not great for EP.

It appears that this change has been made.

That's a shame if so. People are still saying that they're switching it out however (with someone today claiming that the soundtrack was back playing on their ride this morning.)

It does now seem that the movement of Tesla has been made permanent, with photos now showing that a more substantial queue structure has been put in place versus the temporary corded off extension.

Previously, the hall looked like this in layout:

Personally, I see it as such a shame that it's been moved. It broke up the hall and provided something to look at internally that wasn't just some screens/ items/ closing gates on the side.

EP are also installing temporary sun protection!

When I went early May, it was a scorcher of a weekend and this is 100% needed.

Aaaand finally, I will shut up after leaving this here- Theme Park Science has recorded a timelapse in the station, look at how smooth and uninterrupted it runs! (minus I believe one stoppage?)

I won't lie, I am disappointed by this change. It looks like the primary reason is to create more queue line, which is absolutely needed, but you're only going to get an extra 5 minutes of queue in that space and it now means that the whole floorspace of the hall is queue.

I am sure the hall is still very impressive, but seeing Tesla in the middle conducting everything really added to the atmosphere. Having him doing it from the side just isn't going to have the same impact.

More from Theme Park Science!

This time, a rather in depth video on how the ride works.

Subtitles needed ;)

SPOILERS: As they go in depth on the ride, there are of course spoilers on ride elements. If you haven't ridden it yet and want to go in with as little knowledge as possible, I'd skip this one for now.

Thanks, I'll check that out! El Toro Ryan did a similar video recently, which is also well worth a watch.

It was the Golden Ticket awards last night and Voltron won best new coaster. Quite an impressive feat given how much of a US bias it usually has. Guess even they couldn't award it to a generic coaster or something that operated for a week.

They also reclaimed the best park award, and got an award for rebuilding the Austria section.
