[2025] Toxicator: New Forbidden Valley Suspended Top Spin

I get the point, but machine safety rules?…
Oh, I know, you know. Just being silly. ;)
(Besides, latency can be an issue over distance. Paris was fine, but when I did a similar remote gig from Soul there was an 8 second lag!)

*Ahem* anyway, back on topic...

Assuming the op cabin does need to have a half-decent line of sight to the ride, that place I mentioned seems to be a good location. If it was inside the "goo tanks", the main supports would block the view.
Another possible location could be on the far side of the queue switchbacks? It looks like there's a bit of space there.

Thinking about it there is no single ideal location for an op cabin on a suspended topspin. As the seats are on both side it would either be facing one side or the other. So being in a location that doesn't face either shouldn't matter. Maybe it helps even to focus the operator on monitoring both sides if they have to be watching the CCTV.

Where's the op's cabin on Talocan? I have a feeling it's near where you board, which would mean it doesn't have a direct view because of the walls on either side of the ride.

I am fairly certain this photo below is similar for Talocan, this would be the view from the ops cabin, I suspect CCTV covers the dead spots.

remember in 1997 a ride was installed that matched the area theme, seemlessly added to the anchor ride story, was themed impressively with faux wall back drops, themed supports and theming attached to the actual ride structure.
its hard to believe in just under 30 years we’ve had such a downgrade.

it needs to be a good ride experience because it’s ugly, doesn’t fit and smacks of travelling fun fair

Apart from the Nemesis monster itself, the whole area theme is a downgrade on what was there previously IMO, I'm intrigued to know what they'll do with the silos either side (if anything).

Another cattlepen queue line is diaboloical though.

I disagree, personally I really like the Phalanx/military theme. Think that's why I loved Compound so much last Scarefest. I'm also in the minority which likes Sub Terra as well.

But, as @Danscott22 says, Toxy isn't finished yet so it might be a good idea to reserve judgement until after it is.

I mean, you can get a good idea of the overall aesthetic and cattlepen queue from the air shots. We know both of those won't be changing between now and opening, so it's kind of fair game to judge.

It all feels a bit too OTT and superheroes.

As others have said, I think childhood nostalgia plays a massive part. The old forbidden valley was great and left a lot to the imagination. When in the area it felt like you were walking around an area that had seen conflict, and you were seeing the aftermath. Something had happened but you weren’t sure what.

The new theme is very direct and obvious and doesn’t leave much to the imagination. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, maybe it’s just a sign of the current world where everything has to be explained to the nth degree.

From an immersion perspective I believe the new Forbidden Valley to be a huge upgrade on what it was, but let’s be honest it’s been many years since the previous forbidden valley was at its best.

I quite like new valley, it’s much more dynamic than old valley and I never had an issue with the Phalanx story.

1994 Valley was also great but I think it lost its charm when Air opened and getting that wasteland post apocalyptic vibe with a big blue early noughties modern vibe rollercoaster looming over the area just doesn’t work.

It’s nit picking but the chevrons on Toxicator are a bit x-sectory, it’s also nit-picking but I would have liked to have seen more theming on the actual ride. The external theming looks interesting however, and I don’t think it can be judged properly from a drone video.

As for the queue, based on the space there wasn’t much option other than a cattlepen, after a year it will rarely all be used anyway.

Once the green water fountain troughs have been left uncleaned and gathered grime after a few months, they'll look even more terrifying.

Paired with the views from the grimy monorail windows as a first impression of the park, that really makes this the stand out 'fear factor' area of the park I'd say.

The water smelling toxic will add to the mis-en-scène

In retrospect, the old FV rust theme didn't make a whole lot of sense did it? "We've just pinned down this powerful alien creature that is a threat to Humanity! Lets abandon the site completely and let everything rust away so it inevitably escapes!"

I was hesitant a year ago but I much prefer the active, Monarch-like, containment facility. Toxicator already has more theming and area cohesion than Ripsaw ever did.

Damn you, and your logic! 🤣

A thought has just occurred: I wonder if whoever came up with the whole "Phalanx" theme was inspired by the SCP Foundation, or Delta Green? Would it be better if they had managed to get the rights to either of those?

Ripsaw was pretty heavily themed when new. As the photo from Towers Almanac shows, the problem was they kept having to remove it to access components for maintenance and then the themed elements wouldn’t be put back or got damaged along the way. I guess that may be a lesson learnt with Toxicator, with the theming around the ride, not attached to it.

With it unfinished there may be some more decorative paintwork to come - at the moment the faux dirty yellow hatch on the otherwise pristine black structure looks a bit odd to me.
