[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved

Some other interesting bits and bobs you can spot in those photos. Firstly to the south of the site, the Scarefest hearse and the old Bear Grylls photo opp from the entrance plaza, alongside what I think is the Ripsaw Op Cabin:

Interestingly, there also seems to be a second hearse just up the road (are there two hearses used for Scarefest now?).

The second hearse is sitting alongside the bespoke Christmas theming that was used alongside Lightopia, but I don't think was used for the most recent event?

I think we already knew this, but these shots also confirm that Submission is long gone, as the Christmas theming is in the same spot that Submission was stored in for some time after it was removed from the park.

There was an additional hearse used for The Invitation, I think the hearse sat on its own is the usual Towers St one as you can see the green writing down the side.

Just a note on “sources” TT were the ones who claimed, incorrectly but adamantly that the smiler was having the washing machine element and dug themselves that deep they couldn’t get out and even towers mocked them for it.

Recent drone video of the site, some good close ups of things stored there and near the end of the video is a shot of the Fandangos Sizzler thing and an almost unrecognisable Royal Carousel!

I'm always fascinated by the backstage areas at Alton Towers. I'd love a good walk around this area, the flag tower as well as some of the out of bounds areas of the gardens.

So I’m posting this in this thread because I can’t possibly think what else it might be for but feel free to move it if anyone thinks it’s for anything else.

But have Alton worked with this company before? -

They had some huge machinery delivered around this area/the sky ride.

It looks like they specialise in warehouse type buildings and this project is going to have a big warehouse type building. It’s obviously too far from the other projects taking place at the other end of the park so it can’t be for that.

Will it won’t be Horizon - would it?

Makes sense if sky ride needs replacement supports but is not in line with what the company usually does.

Any images

Maybe Horizon construction is starting then.
How exciting if so. I’m sure the Vloggers are driving up and down the M6 as we speak to get the scoop
It’s got to be something big anyway. From what I was told it was a big digger, not one of these small things.

And the HGV was too big to go the back access roads and I assume they wouldn’t want the digger going over the paths etc.

I can’t really think of anything else it could be for at that end of the park.

Especially with that specific company’s branding over it, my friend who works on park googled it and sent me the link and it matches up with what’s proposed.

Unless it’s a sponsorship thing but that’s not something you usually see in my experience.

Wait, have I lost track of time and it's closed season again? Must be to have such in-depth speculation about something as nondescript as a digger......

It does seem coincidental though.
If and it’s a big if - have we ever seen this level of investment in the modern internet era?
I remember 1994 and before but it wasn’t as widely viewable as this.

Given that two new buildings will require steel works to construct and the Project Ocean site has started construction (and will likely involve groundwork in the first instance), it would be safe to assume any machinery is intended for those areas.

Could Project Horizon start groundwork soon? Maybe, but we'll see more activity on that site before steel starts flying up.
