[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved

Wait, have I lost track of time and it's closed season again? Must be to have such in-depth speculation about something as nondescript as a digger......
I wouldn’t have just posted about a digger 😂

It’s the name on the digger, what they do and where the digger was located that was the most intriguing thing.

Nothing (apart from this project) is happening over that side of the park.

Given that two new buildings will require steel works to construct and the Project Ocean site has started construction (and will likely involve groundwork in the first instance), it would be safe to assume any machinery is intended for those areas.

Could Project Horizon start groundwork soon? Maybe, but we'll see more activity on that site before steel starts flying up.
There’s easier ways to get diggers in that end of the park so I can’t imagine it’s for that tbh.

There's also a bit of a valley in the way, if you want to get the digger from the west side of the park, to the east side.

There's no way, I can think of, that you could get a machine of that size through the park to the Ocean site.

No there’s not haha and I can’t think of a way either.

Maybe I’m wrong anyway but news is news and time will tell 😂

I think you mean The Relevant Media®

I'm sure it's meant in jest so i don't want to report this but the repeated digs aren't going unnoticed. As long as it's good natured then go ahead but if i've done something to upset you please feel free to message me directly so we can amicably resolve it :)

I'm really sorry if it's come across like that. I do mean the post in jest, but not at your expense. I found the way you described Mr Sanbrooke as "the relevant media" awfully amusing and have decided it's a far better funny moniker to be using than The Chin.

I feel awful that another community member feels as though they've been unfairly targeted by me, for that I can only apologise. As you know by now we're truly a welcoming bunch. I do worry sometimes that my attempts at sarcasm, or humour, are lost in text and that my penchant for writing lengthy sentences, with at least an attempt at correct grammar and punctuation, can come across as holier than though.

I'm sorry that some of my posts have made you feel upset. That was never my intention. I will endeavour to ensure it doesn't happen again.

No problem at all. I’m happy with a bit of teasing and glad to hear there is no deeper issue so feel free to mock away going forward!

And delighted to share copyright ownership of “The Relevant Media” as a gesture of goodwill.

That Merlin magic making van has been there since curse was being built.

Heres some pics from the weekend with foundation work now taking place. Also they haven’t had permission approved yet, but they must be pretty confident

There’s currently no sign of activity on the darkest depths site as far as I can see.
the company is also constructing the potential scaremaze next to the curse at alton mannor as can be seen in this picture someone took in the scaremaze topic

Just a reminder about speculation in this topic. There'll be a lot of it in the coming months, but let's try and keep it sensible in here.

The new development is way too far in the future to have anything operationally confirmed to ride hosts. Many staff members often like to try and show off/troll people a tad, or just repeat "what they've heard" too. Inevitably, this results in Chinese whispers or falsities that start to get regurgitated as being fact.

If we could try and keep speculation sensible and think before we post as to whether things are actually realistic before posting, it'll stop the topic being clogged up with these sorts of posts. Likewise, instead of responding to those posts, hit the report button (as some members kindly did) and the team will gladly review.

Just spoken to an operator on Thirteen and he said that it was preparing ground and he would be trained as Rita Thirteen Blivvy and Horizon would all be a ‘Operating Zone’ for staff… exciting times!
The ride going into the corner of the park is going to be operated by the team who operates that corner of the park, okay.

Ride Crews have very high turnover, undoubtedly they'd want their top performers on their new ride. So it's likely that the ride staff that work on it when it first opens already work on the mentioned rides, but its difficult to predict who it will be at the management level at this point. I highly doubt the Rides Department will have any role in the project until testing begins, they will be in the same speculative position as us enthusiasts, and will be equally excitable as us also.

As rumours start to flair up, is there anyway of having some sort of accreditation system for reliable/unsubstantiated rumours within the forum. What is obviously fake to some people is credible to others.

I remember a lot of the same sources were posted in recent speculation with claims that ended up being unsubstantive, yet they still continue to get discussed as if they were credible because people maybe don't know about or understand the context behind a particular source.

It’s impossible to be 100% sure something is accredited. Partly because sometimes good sources get it wrong and sometimes completely left field sources are bang on the money. For that reason a feature like that would be useless.

But if a member of park ride staff says something is happening then you can almost guarantee it’s definitely not.

So I’m posting this in this thread because I can’t possibly think what else it might be for but feel free to move it if anyone thinks it’s for anything else.

But have Alton worked with this company before? -

They had some huge machinery delivered around this area/the sky ride.

It looks like they specialise in warehouse type buildings and this project is going to have a big warehouse type building. It’s obviously too far from the other projects taking place at the other end of the park so it can’t be for that.
Looking at this recent pic of the Project Ocean site, this company is working on that too (credit: @Zeock):
