Hi all,

After many long thoughts I have decided to sell my 1998 Alton Towers original Oblivion watch. I've had it since the day it was made available in the Oblivion shop and it has never been worn. still in the original presentation tin. It's currently on EBay so link is below

According to TowersStreet's Facebook page, a new version of Alton Towers Monopoly has been released with Wicker Man on it! And from looking at the board on the box, Wicker Man is in the dark blue group alongside Duel, which would hint that Alton classes the ride in with Gloomy Wood. They really can't make their minds up, can they? Anyway, I shall probably be making a purchase on the 18th! The last version my family bought was the Thirteen version in 2010. Does Alton do this every time a major coaster is built?
 
I'm guessing that the details given to the manufacturer of the game were communicated months and months ago, and they probably weren't that bothered where it ended up on the board. Also, have Towers not only this week confirmed that it's based in or near Mutiny Bay? Give it up. It's not in bloody Gloomy Wood. Crikey O'Reilly! :)
 
To be fair, they can say whatever the hell they like. It's just obviously not in Gloomy Wood. Varney could come to my house, kick my door off the hinges and show me a signed declaration by John Wardley that it is indeed in Gloomy Wood. It still really wouldn't be in Gloomy Wood.
 
The sad thing is that I don't think Wicker Man was really designed to fit into any specific themed area in the park. So it could be classed as Dark Forest for all Alton care, even though it is geographically located in Mutiny Bay.
 
I think from watching the Meet the Maker video its clear that the theme continuity wasn't important to them, more that they wanted a back story to market the ride with. However, I think the theme of wicker man was genius so I'm glad they went with it.

Regarding the Monopoly, they probably based it off the 2017 map because Spinball and Hex are classed as the same area on the Monopoly board.
