Alton Towers Social Media

Resurrecting this topic to ask a specific question.

In the current landscape of companies and other people ditching Twitter/X/Elon’s freedom space due to its current “state”, is it still beneficial for Towers to maintain a presence on the platform? I notice that they do now have a presence on Bluesky (alongside the other Merlin parks), so it’s clear they are hedging their bets that this latest exodus might actually have some teeth. Although from a techy perspective I do wish they would self-verify their accounts 😂

I think it makes sense, i dont use x much but they should probably reduce the number of posts mainly to maintain an account.
This is for a few reasons:
Some of their advertisements / older websites link to it which may not get updated)
Prevent someone from stealing the account (imagine the news like that drug company where someone said insulin was free)
People still reach out on x for help, similar to how they did on twitter, allows for better customer service.

I think the guardian (and a few others) have dealt with that by leaving their old accounts in place, but in an inactive state. That way old posts and links are still valid, even though they themselves don’t have a presence on the platform anymore.

The reaching out for help thing is a bit more tricky since the DM “limit” was imposed on free accounts. It’s the only platform of its type where that even exists.

It’s a little frustrating because it still remains a very good way to get hold of companies, in spite of the many, many issues it has now.

Out of interest, why is everyone suddenly exiting Twitter?

Because of Elon Musk being...many things I can't say outside the Tavern.
Elon Musk has owned Twitter for ages, though. I apologise if I’m missing something, but what happened more recently with Musk that people overlooked up to this point?

It's been going downhill since Muskrat first bought it, and the recent election made it clear which side of the crazy train he was on.

That simple. I was only still on it to keep tabs on football matches.

I suggested posting a few messages (not many though) just to have a Prescence, partially because it is elon musk and he will probably say some stupid thing and ban any accounts that havent posted in x amount of time. also it prevents copies being made by having some presence (for instance rarther than being @Alton tower they may use @offical alton towers)

Elon and the tweak to the content algorithm. Went from seeing nothing but theme parks and football to spammed with right wing American politics
I used to use it more, but the same thing happened to me went from park lore, theme park guide, and no politics to all of a sudden like 1 or 2 tweets from theme park creators and like 20-30 of stupid half wit right wingers from America saying BS

We've gone wildly off topic here but I am slightly concerned we're seemingly heading towards a world with a left wing social media platform and a right wing one.
I am not too concerned, right wing social media has been tried and failed for a few reasons, but normally because advertisers don't want those type of posts next to their advertisements, but I think eventually X will become so toxic no one will want to be there and people will move to alternatives and eventually it will settle to be back as it was before twitter was called X

The right wingers will jump on because they'll get bored of fighting amongst themselves over whatever sad nonsense is the latest popular thing to hate on.

Or they'll all die out from drinking raw milk.
