The ride tester was definitely a fake role. Drayton Manor did a similar PR stunt about ten years ago, claiming that the person who was actually a manager in Operations (I think) was their “Rides Tester”

No reason to wish it away. The Ice Parades (bring the name back!) are an institution as far as I'm concerned, even though I don't think I've been.

I don't want to wish it away, but if it carries on as is, it drains the PB finances every year. I don't really care for shows on parks, but even then they shouldn't cause financial problems by existing.

If it wasn't the park owner's pet project, it would have collapsed financially back in the eighties, when attendance dropped like a stone.
The Ice Parades may have been an institution that should remain, but you haven't ever seen the show...speaks volumes.
Why keep an institution that 99% of the parks visitors never, ever, see?
Other than to massage the owners ego.

I think the thing that doesn't help is it runs 6 days a week for 2 months. If it was a more limited run then it'd likely be busier on each performance.

I suppose the problem is that professional skaters won't come unless they are getting a decent wage, so they would have to pay them a higher daily rate if the show was on for less time.

It'd be interesting to know how much cost is sunk for the duration of the production and how much it costs to mount each performance. (The obvious answer is the same either way I'm sure!)

We were here Friday and Saturday just gone and saw the countdown timer...

Didn't think it was riding too bad...

Just bulldoze it and install a flat ride.

It can be her new NEW MACHINE.

Knock it down and build a Mack Extreme Spinner were you sit in Zamboni themed cars twirling around the track and features on-board audio of Mandy screaming at you as it goes through a tunnel with smell pods that have the aroma of money being rapidly burnt.

Also for anyone that hasn’t seen it, the New Machine! (Amanda Thompson Remix) video on YT is pretty funny.

I sat watching it last week wondering what all the performers do when there’s not a show on? Especially Mr Pole Dancer/Drum Banger. Also, where do they all live for the season?

Really good evening tonight for the Dippers 100th birthday.

Nice glass of prosecco and a tasty cupcake.

They had a dj, singer, guitarist, and saxophone player at different points

Infusion was operating

Andy Hygate gave a lovely speech in the minutes building up to 8pm

Then they opened Big Dipper for everyone to ride, got a few rides in. Nice to have a night ride at this time of the season as well.

Pity about the weather but it didn't put off the crowd.

Also was nice to see the park busy today as well.

Practice when the ice is closed to the public.
Work out to keep peak fitness levels up.
Promotional work for the park
Where do they live???
Blackpool has more than a few b&b's.
When they go bust, the Beach pick them up for pennies and use them for limited staff accommodation, or at least they used to.

Interesting to know that. I didn’t think they’d all have a floor at the Boulevard.

I don't personally have it but I believe It's a system you use on your phone and you book your ride and you wait the time of the queue virtually and in the meantime you can do other things around the park instead of physically queuing.
