This is the thing. They don’t just close queue lines early on fireworks nights, I’ve known them close Big One queue half an hour early on 5pm closes.

It’s disgusting behaviour from the park and it’s honestly seriously making me wonder if I’ll bother visiting the park this year.

It’s not just the issue of Big One queue closing early, it’s the fact that BPB act as though they are totally unaccountable, they treat their guests with contempt, and sadly in the last few years in particular, I felt like BPB consider my custom, and the custom of others, to be an inconvenience more than anything. If the attitude is “don’t go back if you don’t like it”, then I really can’t see how I can justify making the effort to visit the place.

BPB was, for many years, my favourite UK park. Sadly I no longer feel like this and really can’t be bothered to visit. This is almost entirely due to the shoddy customer service and poor operations. It really does make a difference, it’s a great park but it’s standards (or lack of them) are letting the place down massively.

I can only agree...don't keep going back if you can't take their sloppy standards.
I can only add, things simply have not changed over the years, customer service has never nosedived, it has always been crap, for decades.
Things got much worse with the arrival of "pay one price"...Like it or lump it kicked in with a vengeance.
Personally, I struggle with queues of more than twenty minutes, so a Merlin pass is now out of my range, so few days in recent years with the low queues I used to love.

Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention in previous years then, because although customer service has never been BPB’s strongest point, it really feels like it’s got a whole lot worse over the past few years.

And the fact that nobody’s even jumping to the park’s defence anymore really says it all.

Looking forward to visiting this weekend for the first time since day tripping the opening day.
Be great to get on the Grand National and The Big One for the first time since last autumn. Might give Enso ago as well.

After we were told to **** off on Grand Prix 10 years ago, I've always had the lowest expectations of service.

I also remember riding Grand National (let it be RMCd) at the end of the day, and as we pulled back in to the station, all of the staff had their back packs on ready to leave pretty much at the same time as we did. This may have been on the same visit!

you say that but there are a fair few on twitter that will defend the park to the hilt and in their eyes BPB can do no wrong

There's always been a bit of a park first, customer second attitude at the Pleasure Beach. Quite American in some ways, a friendly greeting at the front gate and then a hierarchy beyond.

Although an absolute hero of mine, WGT was a bit like that, but he was chucking up mental rides every few years so we overlooked it.

Who's WGT? I presume Geoffrey Thompson, but what's the W for?

The park has announced you can now use the season pass to gain entry to 4 other parks, Lisberg, Europa, Efteling, Isla magic

That’s pretty great isn’t it that you can visit those with a season pass. Interestingly enough I noticed on the Phantasialand website that anyone can visit for free on their birthday, that could make for a great road trip going from Efteling to Phantasialand to Europa Park.
