Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2024 Discussion

On.the gyro front, remember that loan was settled only 3 days later. As if there had been a change of mind
I suppose that begs the question then of how serious they actually were in purchasing one? I’m beginning to think that things like this rumoured Gyro Swing or the big wheel are just some kind of weird game by the park where they want to put out the impression that the are investing in hardware and getting new rides but really have no intention of it.

For the purpose of someone completely losing track, of everything that is going on, am i right in saying…

1. Ice Blast is being refurbed
2. Giro Swing isn’t happening any more
3. Grand Prix may be replaced by a family coaster (Not something that will reach unprecedented heights)
4. The truck outside of Thorpe Park on Hyperia’s opening day is probably a pollock dropped by BPB

You missed Bowl-a-Drome may or may not be going demolished.

Just been having a play seeing if a 300ft dive would fit at PB, seems it does!

Yes this is scale accurate! I need to figure out a way of importing a 3D model somehow. Anyone any good with No Limits?;)

PB Dive 1.jpg

The layout has the station on the Ice Blast site, with a 305ft lift hill, a turnaround then the holding brake before the drop. The drop passes through the Big One turnaround and goes into a 40 degree shallow, over-banked turn rising and descending (turn roughly 70ft high). As the turn levels off, straightening out, it rises into a large Immelmann, followed by an ascending banked turnaround into a mid-course brake run.

After the MCBC there's a near vertical drop into a vertical loop, followed by a large corkscrew which upon exiting banks into a helix climbing to a high point, before tightening and curving around itself before raising again slightly, giving a pop of air before entering the final brake run, after which there's a small turn into another block, enters the station & completes the circuit.

Something to think about? Might put our Blivy out of the limelight though!

One of the PC rounds last year was Bowladrome/Wild Mouse sites combined. You can get something tall and silly on there alone.

There seems to be a few hints that B&M will build Giga Dive Machines.

Would everyone be happy with a Dive Machine at BPB?

I do believe that BPB need to look at having a replacement for PMBO as i can see if lasting too much longer into the future. Also the “Unprecedented Heights” comment.

As Mack have already built a hyper coaster at Thorpe, what ride model/manufacturer would you like to see as a hyper coaster at BPB?

I struggle to believe that BPB could afford a world-beating B&M. They would be better investing in eye-catching rides from the mid-level manufacturers. The mooted Gyroswing and some kind of family RMC or Intamin creation would be a good start.

I feel the PBMO has more life in it yet, given how much they've invested in new track, even if their hand was forced to do so.

It's bad enough with the winds at the top of the PMBO - forget a facial, just have your face sandblasted!! Not withstanding how often the wind will be too strong to operate. Given the location of most UK theme parks not sure how viable a gigacoaster is.

How about a wooden-built wild mouse?? Or a big "house" where you have lots of slides and spinning wheels and kids can have lots of "fun" (stick a 'Spoons inside - sorted 😂 ).

The biggest issue the big one has with wind is the second hill and turnaround being so tall as Geoffrey wanted it to envelope the park like it does.

So a modern taller coaster that's built more sensibly would be less susceptible to the wind.

My issue would be how boring the only giant dive machine (Valrayvn) I've been on is compared to the more fun mini dive machines. The mcbr and 2nd small dive just kills it.
