I dont think it is all codswallop. They may be an bit of a overspin problem that affects some people, in an adverse way. This does not mean the ride is crap or outright dangerous. However they may need to tweek it a little.
How many AT ride have been tweeked to sort out a problem, like adding trim fins (thirteen).

Also BPB have got a lot better for staggered openings lately. On 10am openings everything is open at 10:30 except Nash and Valhalla which open at 11 and on days when the park opens at 11 everything is ready to run for opening time.

I completely agree. Air Meeting at Nigloland seemed very keen to keep a continuous high speed roll going when I rode that, and the way to stop it was to level out the wings. Just letting go of them completely seems like asking for trouble, especially in certain weather conditions.
 
It has been revealed that a bolt fell from the Big One earlier this month on the 9th of August, reportedly falling from the return bend of the coaster onto a roof, and then onto the floor. Sounds like it wasn't a major incident, but before you ask, the Mirror have already written an exaggerated article about it :p

A huge metal bolt narrowly missed injuring a family at Blackpool Pleasure Beach when it fell from the popular Big One roller coaster.

The family, believed to be from Scotland, were enjoying a day at the attraction when the falling debris struck the ground nearby.

According to reports in a national newspaper, a four-year-old boy had to pulled out of the way by his pregnant aunt.


Bosses at the Pleasure Beach confirmed foot-long bolt had come loose from the 235ft ride and hit a building on its way down.


Nobody was hurt in the incident, which happened earlier this month.

A Pleasure Beach spokesman said: “On Sunday August 9, a 320mm bolt came away from the Big One structure at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

“The bolt was positioned on the return bend of the structure and we believe landed on the roof of a building before coming to rest on the floor by the Hendry family.

“When the Hendry family brought it to our attention they were met by our Park Operations Director who explained the circumstances of the incident and offered sincere apologies on behalf of the company.


“The ride was then closed for checks by our engineers and re-opened later in the day.”

It has been reported the family were offered a refund and a free one-day pass following the incident.

I'm surprised they didn't take the oppertunity to link this to The Smiler's "bolt incident".
 
It would make a good disaster movie. Well we have the aunt who not only is pregnant but also Scottish and the rain of metal bits, threatening to maim, all they need is something on fire and the film is a go.
 
I visited Pleasure Beach for the first time in about ten years on Monday, and I was actually quite surprised how improved the park is.

The whole place was really clean, the rides were running well, the park was relatively quiet (longest I queued was about 25 minutes for Vallhala), and the staff were really friendly.

With me being about 6 or 7 years old on my last visit to the park, I had the opportunity to get some new credits, which included Vallhala, which is probably the first time in the while I've come off a ride with a massive smile on my face - The best dark ride I've ever done.

Really looking forward to going back soon!
 
Regarding Skyforce, it now has a counter fitted which shows both in the queue and in the shop, how many spins each person has done. The wind does make the ride a lot more fun.

Valhalla has won best water ride in the world in the Golden Ticket Awards, and the park has been voted 6th best in the world.
 
Blackpool being called 6th best park in the world is kind of like Preston being called the 6th best football team in the world.
 
The reality is that the park offers much more variety than any other British park in terms of different ride designs. That, combined with its heritage, means that a lot of people go for it.

I guess variety is no coaster manufactured after 1999? And 3 incredibly similar wooden coasters that even the guy that runs rcdb couldn't distinguish between the other day (click Edited).
 
The variety comes from maintaining rides which are up to 100+ years old, preserving them for multiple generations. Clearly you have a problem with the park, undoubtedly in comparison with Alton Towers. I merely suggest that it has positive unique selling points which very few parks on earth can ever hope to achieve - and there are reasons why it appeals to many.
