Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

I remember a mobile fight on the front. It started at Central beach area and passed the pub i was at and disappeared out of view heading to north beach.
That was a bit ago! i became teetotal 12 yrs ago

Remember last time I was up there some kid hurled random non-sensical abuse from his car outside the Pizza Hut by Pleasure Beach...

It's an awful place for the most part...
 
I never had a problem with Blackpool in all the years I've been visiting there since 1988. There is good and bad areas wherever you go. Mind you I used to work in London many years ago and go out around Leicester Square at night, so Blackpool looks kind of tame compared to London
 
Not seen trouble in Blackpool since...er...last Saturday night.
Fight outside Velvet Coaster, security on it in less than a minute, 2 police vans in less than 2 minutes.
Prom and BPB much better than they used to be, but the stag/hens still end up in bother all down the front.
Stay off all the side streets, but the busy areas are usually safe.
Keep off the beach late at night, you will attract trouble in some form or other.
 
There are actually some fairly large and nice houses a 15 minute walk away from BPB, I was really surprised when I saw them the other day!

BPB itself has gotten so much better (atmosphere wise) after they brought in the £6 non-rider pass. It's like a different place!
 
The few times I've been to Blackpool we stopped at Cala gran in Fleetwood and used to tram into Blackpool
I thought the place was fine didn't see any trouble.
But I guess like everywhere there's always gonna be trouble especially at night with all the stag/hen do's

It isn't the stag/hen parties that are the real trouble, they have a fixed range between the piers and around the town.
The real issue is the depraved/deprived underclass, that uses crime as an alternative to work, and live off the tourists.
There are some very nice parts to Blackpool, I would happily live on any of the roads around Stanley park, but the mass of very cheap housing behind the prom and in certain pockets of the town are in urgent need of slum clearance, but the council can't afford to do so.
Hop a mile or two south to St Annes, and disposable income trebles. There are massive economic divisions in the area, and there always has been.

So what you're saying is, we all need voice coaching to perfect our northern accents, and they'll leave us alone?
 
Blackpool is a very unique place and I bloody love it, I come from a rougher side of Birmingham so to me it feels like home but with a sea. I much prefer the back street pubs more character far more safer I found then in the town centre at least at chucking out time, I've been coming to Blackpool for over 5 years visit at least 20-25 times a year just for the Pleasure beach so I guess everyone has diffrent experiences but far as I'm concerned £1.50 a pint is a cracking deal

Well the good news continues for Pleasure Beach, with them posting a £1M pre-tax profit, despite the UK having a somewhat underwhelming summer this year.

Small steps with a 1% guest increase, but all boding well for next year with Icon. It's reassuring to see the park on a seemingly steadier footing after the troubling times the park was going through just a few years ago :)

Where are you getting your statistics Dan? According to multiple sources including the ONS, Blackpool isn't even listed in the top 10 of socially deprived places in the UK o_O
