I didnt go to the Towers until 3years ago, and I thought it was fantastic. I'd only ever been to Flamingo Land before that as it was much closer, and until I visited the Towers I didnt realise why theme parks were called THEME parks. I was really impresed with the effects and raved to all my friends that had never been. Might sound great and like I'm full of praise...
Last year I finally visited Disneyland Paris.
I was back in the position I'd been in 3 years prior, looking back at Alton and being surprised at just how much they got away with. Plant a few unusal looking plants and call an area a jungle etc. I know Disney has a lot more visitors and therefore more money but the scale of the difference in quality was crazy. Even the staff picking up litter would be in a costume themed to their area. I'd heard the story about everything the customer could see was considered 'on stage' and therefore nothing should be seen to break the illusion but I expected that would be exaggerated. It really wasnt. Everything was themed. EVERYTHING.
I hope to go to Florida at some point in the next few years and Im expecting to be blown away in a similar way.
The Alton management need to look at the likes of Disney and Universal. I appreciate it wont ever be on that scale but they should atleast try. People will start going less if they dont, especially with the cost of flights becoming more and more reasonable with EasyJet etc. The price for Alton just keeps going up and the quality goes down.
Shape up Alton! You could be fantastic...
