Broken rides!

Not sure about the Th13teen problem, but nearly every hydraulically launched Intamin has issues in the heat, which I guess is fairly interesting since they built one in the desert.

I'm not sure if it's anecdotal evidence, or their experience (and maintenance budget) for Baco, but it's interesting that the folks in Salou have opted for LSM technology in Ferrari Land.
 
Yeah Formula Rossa and Baco don't tend to go down in the heat too?...

Rita & Stealth closed again. Those rides don't like the heat, I tell you! As is Kingda Ka, while we're at it.
 
Not a broken ride but Thirteen continues to run only two trains (which I believe has been the case ever since it re-opened after being down for a few days). It would appear that the rumours regarding a train re-entering the tunnel instead of going towards the station may have been true.

I don't think that makes the re-entry rumour any more plausible. The simplest explanation would be something to do with a defective train.
 
I would think if there was any chance of a train being able to go the wrong way in the tunnel the ride would not be open.

Something fairly major must have happened with the ride for it to be down for 3 or 4 days and then to only ever run two trains when it did re-open. I was very sceptical about that rumour initally however I'm led to believe that there may be some truth in it. Alas we will likely never know for sure!

I just struggle to understand how, by design, it could launch itself after the switch track failed. That would be a terrificly awful and unsafe design flaw that I would have thought impossible.

When I was down in May everything was closed at one point or another (already posted about this!), but when we got in to the queue for Th13teen it went down too - we could see them testing the trains because we were at the top of the stairs, and there was once they sent a train around and it definitely took a fair bit longer to come back that all the other test rides did - I'd say a good minute or even two. I don't know if there would've been anything like that, doubt it as it reopened, but there was definitely some stoppage somewhere along there!

Now I will concede that Intamin don't have the greatest reliability record but it's a bit unfair to be rolling eyes and saying 'typical Intamin' over a completely unfounded rumour that probably isn't true.

I thought the ':p' made it pretty clear that I was joking. I have no idea how it could have happened and if it did then it is a very serious issue with the ride.

There's clearly some sort of problem with the train and this could well have caused other issues with the ride system, leading to the down time.

This could well be put down to Intamin unreliability. But a coaster being unable to determine the position of a switch track before it launches a train forward would be a shocking design flaw that I very much doubt would be plausible.
