Camelot - gone for good?

Some of the metal work on the back of the car looks a bit bent out of shape where i believe one of the trains smashed on the motorway from what i heard! Wonder what it's doing in Margate interesting to see it again though it looks a bit sad! Better splash out the cash before Mr Shawn Sanbrooke gets his hands on it!

Yes it did. Page 7 of this topic. Fell off the back of a lorry. I too wonder what its doing in Margate, especially as the track was demolished. It is being sold as a whole train, surely they'd get more interest selling the individual cars?

Agree with recent post, surely the question mark can go from the topic title. The park has gone the way of the dodo. Perhaps retitle it 'Camelot memories' or similar, perhaps we can share some photos, etc, not that they would be all that exciting!

Oh, but no dippy.
I heard a from a posh customer of mine that the original management team from Granada have pitched in for funding to reopen it in 2022, in time for the school trips post covid.

I'm wondering how that's even possible after covid. If covid hadn't happened i would have thoughts about it more tbh!

Story Homes keep getting turned down for new residential large scale, so want to offload most of the site as they can only build a few houses.
All the other amenities still remain...hotel, holiday lets, infrastructure, banqueting hall, car parks, exhibition hall and large lake.
Only the small, underfunded theme park closed.
The area has planning for leisure green belt, under the new town planning in the sixties.
Covid/warming means more local leisure.
Land prices with no planning in some areas are very cheap.

They're said to have some hugely ambitious plans. Sweep has previously been a Creative Consultant for The London Resort, so I think we're in safe hands.

If it’s the same bloke who my m8 won a bid off for a log flume boat in 2017 I wouldn’t trust him. He won the bid and we hired a van to go to Margate to pay him and pick it up but he had already sold it to someone else and we ended up bringing back a tea cup instead.

I wonder if the demise of that train was what sealed the ride's fate. God knows what you'd do with a whole mashed up train like that.

Something was clearly happening for it to turn up in Thornton.

When I last visited in 2010 they had at least 2 trains at Camelot itself.

Maybe if the owners of the land when they closed the park had told the people who owned the ride to remove their property or they'd start charging them rent for its storage they might've been in more of a hurry to sell/relocate the ride.

I honestly expected it to be left standing for another few years before the bulldozers came in. This is absolutely gutting to see.

Coincidentally, TPR re-uploaded a POV of Dragon Flyer this morning. The park may be levelled and traces totally wiped out, but the noise and the stench of the fumes from that ride will never be forgotten.

Well it was always gonna happen eventually and tbh, it's sad to see the end but this park needs to let out of it's misery. There are now loads of videos that show people climbing Knightmare and just walking round the site which is dangerous but it's gone now just like American Adventure and now i just hope they get on and replace it RIP Camelot!
