Cedar Point: General Discussion

I'm not sure that it has been formally announced by the park yet, but Cedar Point are getting a Vekoma Tilt Coaster in 2025:

Interestingly, this is not on the site of Snake River Falls but on unused land between Valravn and Millennium Force. I suspect they are going to need to divert the perimeter road for this.

Great that they are finally getting a major new thrill coaster!

Well this came out of nowhere. How do Cedar just announce things without anyone being aware prior? If a Uk park was building something we’d know about it years before😂

Because everything in the UK has to be preceded by 1000s pages of planning documents and permissions before you can even get close. US parks can mostly do whatever as long as it’s within their zonal remit.

Holy expletives, though. I did not have this on my bingo card!

It looks excellent! That layout looks fast and packed with airtime, and it’s certainly a very different coaster to anything else at Cedar Point!

It looks like Cedar Point’s already world-renowned coaster lineup is about to get even better!

On a side note, I find it odd how absolutely nothing about this leaked into the rumour mill beforehand… normally, the rumour mills around major US parks are quite leaky in the lead up to major projects being announced and we have a decent idea of what’s coming before it comes, but Cedar Point kept this one secret remarkably well!

Official confirmation from the park.

Feels like a stop gap this, like the way they added Valrayvn in 2016 before Steel Vengeance in 2018.
I think you could be right, and suspect there will be another major investment coming in perhaps 2027 on the Snake River Falls/Shoot the Rapids site. Hopefully some form of major water ride.

As for Siren's Curse, looks like the trains are going to have onboard audio and LED lighting, which will be great!

EDIT:
This video shows the lighting on the trains really well, looks very cool:

I do hope that there might be a bit more of an attempt to have some theming mind.

That looks like a strong layout, and there should be quite a lot of airtime. The layout is also fairly compact, which is good as Cedar Point doesn't have all that much space to build on.

This has already been mentioned on the discord but it probably deserves a wider audience. Given the rapid turnaround time for this project it seems almost certain this is the ride originally intended for Energylandia which was then bought by Six Flags Mexico and sat on their car park for a while. After a quick search on Reddit I found this old EL concept drawing which appears to show the same layout, albeit with a different colour scheme

Think it would have been better going to another park in the chain personally. Some of them badly need a new coaster and a tilt coaster would give them something rather unique.

I feel like once the novelty of the tilt sequence wears off then this could get a bit lost in an already stellar coaster line up at CP. I don't think this will have people sprinting to ride it from rope drop after it's first season excitement is over with.

Find it genuinely amusing that the old Six Flags chain bought the coaster, and now it's been given to the biggest legacy Cedar Fair park.

I heard the reason they didn't install this in Six Flags Mexico was because of planning issues. So all jokes aside it seems like they just did the logical thing by moving it here. It looks too good a ride to spend another few years stuck in limbo.

Yeah definitely better it's getting built (I do wonder how many never built coasters are in storage nowadays).

However in the new Six Flags chain there's probably 10 or so parks that could've done with a new coaster before Americas Roller Coast.

Still a great bit of luck for Vekoma as this'll get so many more eyes on them than if it had opened in Poland, or Mexico.

I'd say it makes perfect sense. Cedar Point have not had a new thrill coaster since 2018 (Steel Vengeance) and with the issues surrounding Top Thrill 2 I believe that guests numbers have been down this year. There will still be some uncertainty surrounding Top Thrill 2, some a brand new and unique coaster gives something definitive for Cedar Point to market next year.
