Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Most have a hidden button or pedal of some kind, to make sure they go off when the staff want them to. Read in to that what you will.
Because every staff member has no biases on the ground of gender, race and religion.

So it’s just the sus clause again?

I do remember overhearing a family go in and the security member started some conversation
“where are you from?”
“Oh we’ve come from Crawley”
“No, like where did you come from originally”

Oof.

Poor family.

On site today, crazy busy, lots of rides going down. Vampire reporting 5 minute queue in the app at the moment:

Don't think that is 5 minutes.
I don’t think Vampire has very accurate advertised queue times… I once again show off the “5 minute” queue from when I went in September 2023:

That’s the longest 5 minute queue I’ve ever seen! It did, in fact, take 60 minutes…

Trouble is it didn't open for a while at the start of the day, and since it has opened the app has said a 5 minute queue, so I think half the park seems to have rushed over to it. Still says 5 minutes now, sign at the queue entrance says it is closed.

It's sad to see him still towing the corporate line so many years after retirement.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'd love to be able to ask him off the record "do you look at Chessington today and weep?"
He doesn’t toe the corporate line with his books (which are sold within Merlin’s parks) although he isn’t scathing either. But he is upfront with some of Merlin’s shortcomings.

Poor ride availability at the start of the day. An utter shamble from Aramark with the ordering system on the tablet in Smokehouse. Incorrect tablets on tables meant food and drink were being sent left right and centre, whilst taking forever to come. Required a lot of energy from the staff to intervene and solve the problem. I'll be voting with my wallet and not ordering table service with Aramark now until the situation is improved/returned to QR codes on a table / being able to order at a till.

Dragons Fury conveniently conking out on an advertised 75 minute queue 5 minutes after park close. Guests taken to Mandrill Mayhem as a good will gesture, but this meant the back of the queue became the front due to the evacuation procedure, with guests from the pathway able to join the crowd.

The park ready to compete with Universal? Might want to address the gaping holes in the queue lines first. Quite literally. (Reported to staff and was then having to be manned by a manager).

I went to chessington this week, have to say the park is looking okay and the operations on Monday were the best I had seen!!

Although the thing that still is not great is the attention to detail of things, like chipped paint, keeping on top of grafiti and especially the whole state of land of the tiger is abysmal, such a shame as it was once a beautiful area :(

Also it would be a shame to lose rattlesnake as the queue line and ride area is still so detailed and underrated , also would be sad to lose the log flume to a Minecraft expansion as that area could also be made great again

Last season same happened with me on Dragon's, it broke down after ride close and they just sent us over to Mandrill. It was having issues all day so they clearly couldn’t be bothered to try fix it.

I’ll be honest here; as much as I respect John Wardley immensely, I would take anything he says about future investments with a pinch of salt.

I’m still trying to work out what he meant when he said that B&M “solved the shuttle coaster capacity problem” with Mandrill Mayhem, and he also said things about The Curse at Alton Manor and Nemesis Reborn that were at very least strongly misinterpreted by enthusiasts at the time.

As I say, I respect the man as much as anybody on here, but seeing as he now works with Merlin in a somewhat official capacity again, he’s naturally going to “toe the line” somewhat when asked for his opinion on future investments.
