By this, I'd imagine that they mean everything (bars, restaurants, leisure places, schools etc.) should be open again by June, albeit potentially with measures in place.

Daily Mail also has an article today saying the UK will have the most deaths out of the EU, worse than Italy.

They claim by July the UK could see 66,000 dead.

If that prediction was true then we are on lockdown for a few months longer

This research does not take the new NHS Nightingale hospitals or the makeshift hospitals elsewhere. Also, some sources predict permanent damage to the UK economy if lockdown is not lifted by June, and many would argue that permanent economic damage would be more damaging to the people of Britain in the long term.

many events aren't cancelled because of distancing concerns at the actual event, its due to the team not being able to plan and arrange it properly in the months before.

A slightly different view as a member of a Charity Beer festival, we actually had more time plan and arrange the event than ever before. However it was the aspect of not being able to afford to cancel it last minute. (Any loss to a charity is devastating).

Some people are cutting their losses early, others are waiting for insurance payouts and others will simply risk cancelling it last minute if they have already spent most cost up front.

Personally I think anything up to October is at risk and even then who knows. People might be tough to coax out and spend money up front.
 
Could also be if sponsors get cold feet or are worried financially, they might pull the plug and that in turn means the event gets cancelled.
 
And when the lock down is lifted, I can visualise a mad rush to hairdressers and other services that we all need but been without. And take a look at what's happened in China, everyone rushes out to tourist sites, if this virus is still lingering, then the crisis is going to reignite. Imagine what the queues will be like at themeparks when this is all over?

I bet hairdressers, beauty therapists, gyms and the like are gonna make mega money as soon as they can open!!!

The lockdown is almost certainly going to continue for a minimum of another month, this has been known for a long time, moaning about it acheives nothing. We were told it would be reviewed after 3 weeks, but almost all scientists have advised it will need to continue for a lot longer so this news should not be a surprise.
Many other European (France, Spain etc) countries have now banned exercise and you can only go out to walk a dog, some places you cannot go more than 50m from your home. If people do as asked and limit contact with other people properly, hopefully we won't have the same restrictions.

Its not worth worrying about.
The chief medical and scientific officers seem to be the main people giving the advice on what to do anyway. Nothing is going to significantly change in weeks.
 
Johnson isn't working now, if he dies presumably they can continue as they are doing now.

He should have taken a break far earlier, his health is more important.
 
According to Mr Trump, the UK phoned the US and begged for 200 ventilators yesterday.

If true this would prove to be mighty shocking considering the government's incompetence and arrogance over not joining the EU ventilator scheme.

Of course as is often the case there could be an absence of truth in what comes out of Trump's mouth. It may have been a private company in the UK perhaps.

I don't personally think it's fair to solely blame China, as a virus like this is difficult to contain, and there are other things that could have been done by other countries earlier on to prevent mass damage.
