I would interpret "as much as possible" as only go out for shopping, exercise, or work.

"Limit contact with other people" presumably means try to avoid others when you're on an essential trip, and certainly don't intentionally meet up with people.

I think the guidelines are clear.

Sorry for sounding like a broken record!

I hate to agree with bluesonichd but he's got a point, gov really should have waited till the PMs announcement.

I think from the start of this virus outbreak, our government message has been confusing as well as conflicting on many levels. On a couple of occasions, the government advisers has not been practising what they have been preaching (hence why they had to stepped down). I expect more mix messaging to come, and they might as well just stick it on the side of a bus :rolleyes:

At the end of the day, I'm shielding my wife and myself and will emerge to the world again and mingle only and only when I feel it is safe to do so.

My neighbours here are mostly elderly and just seem to go out and about as if there is nothing to worry about, their social distancing skills have a lot to be desire, especially when they think the 2 metre rule don't apply to them. They seem to think that this will all be over next month and we are all going back to normal soon :rolleyes:

Even if Jess and I was to go out, even if we followed the guidelines, it not what we do that counts, but can we trust others out and about to also respect the guidelines? Before this, people never respected our personal space let alone the 2 metre rule. I hear reports from those we know that do venture outside for essential trips, that people are not respecting the rules.

Funny isn't it....... There have a relatively small outbreak considering their population, managed to completely eradicate it, meanwhile the rest of the world suffers..... Almost sounds like it was done on purpose doesn't it. .... disable other countries while you build up your economy and military. We all knew bioweapons were next on the list of warfare.... This all sounds a bit too convieninenient to me.

We are safe thank you, so far we have manage to keep the virus from entering our home and we intend to keep it that way, to keep Jess and myself safe. If I were to become ill, there will be no one specialised to look after my wife and the parrots, as well as Jess would be at high risk due to her rare medical condition.
 
Apparently the PM address will only be 10 minutes long, and has been pre-recorded.

Since Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have all ignored this new stance (which isn't actually new according to the Boris tweet, it's just packaged differently), and there's been an additional note to explain the new slogan this has been done as well as everything else this government have done.

It's not like all the shops are (or should) going to open their doors.
 
My local Sainsbury's has completely given up with the 'one person per household' thing - it's still on the sign as you enter, but isn't being enforced at all. It didn't strike me as a problem until I was in the shop and social distancing was hard work, with four - six people crowded around a single trolley

I made a passing comment at the checkout there that were some large groups in the store and was told "certain community groups have taken issue" with the rule and it was no longer being enforced for that reason. If that is true, it was bound to happen sooner or later, but that's one of the first concrete examples I've seen of the facade slipping and businesses doing what makes sense for the bottom line, over the welfare of their customers.

In my experience Sainsbury's enforce at the door, where as Asda warn at the door but do not enforce.

Heck even me and my sister we in Asda obviously in a group no staff said anything-alttrough a certain badge I was wearing might play a part in that.

Yeah, so basically, you can do more exercise and drive further to exercise and even relax outdoors. You're also encouraged to go back to work if you can but try to avoid public transport. Maintain social distancing.

Phase 2 starts early June which involves some kids going back to schools. Also some non-essential shops opening.

Phase 3 early July subject to everything being OK with earlier phases we'll try to start opening entertainment venues etc.

Still left a lot of room for confusion. Please correct me if I've gone wrong anywhere.
