I think the majority of the leisure industry will be working towards a 4th July opening, as that what Government advice has hinted towards.

More interesting I think is the rest of the year's calendar - only opening on Saturdays in September and October (bar a couple of October Sundays) - is this normal for Oakwood, or an attempt to save money?

Well, you can already drive 150 miles and go and crowd on a beach with numerous strangers from all around the country so going to a theme park isn't going to be any worse really. Less clothing to protect you on a beach also so theme parks are probably safer.

I'm in no rush at all to get back to theme parks but if we're going to continue with allowing people to travel across the country and mingle then why get choosy about it ay?

Oakwood wouldn’t be able to open until the welsh assembly say they can. Parks in the England may open earlier then Oakwood. That’s the thing to remember they will all work to opening July 4th but then it’s up to the local government to say when they can reopen.

You can drive to Durham from London whilst suffering the symptoms to get someone else to look after your kids so really you can do whatever you want (and theme parks would be good for the mental health etc.)

Might not be the most idiotic leadership in the world but certainly the most spineless.

The tories have lost a voter here for the foreseeable future.

    1. This Cummings situation at least requires an apology, if not a resignation/sacking. What he's done is crap and sometimes you just have to say 'fair cop gov, caught me out fair and square' and take your medicine. I hate it when people don't take responsibility for their actions and it looks like Boris etc are being complicit in this by helping him out.

    2. A proportion of my vote was to get Brexit over the line anyway and that was largely a principle thing also, but that's pretty much done now.

    3. Their general handling of Coronavirus has been atrocious.

    4. I couldn't vote for Corbyn as he was far too left wing. He's gone now.

    5. Entirely personal and selfish of me but being an essential worker I've worked all through this pandemic putting myself at risk whilst the government has been flinging monetary handouts left right and centre to all and sundry. I've had nothing out of them and there is currently no proposition of a bonus or a tax break or anything out of this government so I'm absolutely going to hold that against them.

Looks like Labour have a decent chance of getting my vote next time. Sorry that this strayed into politics.

Yeah I've tried to give them the benefit of the doubt in handling s difficult situation. But defending that clown is horrific.

Wonder which petrol pump on the A1 he used en route and how many people it could have killed.

Dominic Cummings is a slimeball who seems to weasel his way out of every bad situation he finds himself in. He just doesn't strike me as a terribly nice person, and with today's developments, the impression I'm getting is that the Tories are telling him - and all of us - that the coronavirus regulations don't apply to him, and he's basically got carte blanche to do what he likes. Utterly pathetic, but then again, I'd expect nothing less from this excuse for a government.

In order of credibility and humility:
    1. Cummings apologises and resigns
    2. Cummings apologises and says it won't happen again
    3. Cummings doesn't apologise but government dismisses him
    4. Cummings doesn't apologise but government distances itself from him, perhaps saying he made an error of judgement
    5. Cummings doesn't apologise, feels he's done nothing wrong and government actively rallies around and condones his actions
It's disappointing the government has chosen the last option, but I feel we haven't heard the last on this. Sadly it completely undermines the government's message as it now feels like we can all ignore the advice if we decide that our personal circumstances are more important.

Additionally, I feel it was a bit low to subject the transport secretary Grant Shapps to the inevitable fallout today. Where is Boris Johnson? I haven't seen him for a while. Maybe we should all check our fridges.

To be fair, the government said that it was to secure childcare for his son, who was at risk if he hadn’t travelled, and surely if we should believe anyone, it’s the government?

I always felt Cummings had too much power for somebody who isn't even elected. This just confirms it.

He seems to have so much influence within government that he's untouchable, and it's dangerous when people become untouchable. It wouldn't surprise me if he wrote Downing Street's statement.

Turns out there's been a potential THIRD breach of the lockdown rules by the slimeball that is Cummings. I'd like to say I'm surprised, but...I'm really not.

Indeed, I have now seen two separate tweets from the 10th of May which say they spotted Cummings in Durham. I'm not sure how it could be faked, unless the same person has access to both accounts. I'm surprised this wan't picked up earlier.
