A few bits of UK Coronavirus related news, unfortunately most of it in the wrong direction:
More local lockdowns
People in Lancashire (but not Blackpool), Merseyside and parts of the Midlands and West Yorkshire will no longer be allowed to meet people from other households indoors or outdoors. Also some pubs and restaurants will have to close early.
There are now local lockdowns in a significant number of areas which apply to over 10 million people.
A nationwide "circuit-break"
There's increasing talk of nationwide restrictions for a few weeks. Some hospitality businesses could be required to close, but schools and workplace would remain open. It's not clear which businesses it would apply to but it's likely to be announced by the Government next week.
And perhaps not surprising:
London's New Year firework celebration cancelled
Normally around 100,000 people attend to see them so it's understandable that can't happen this year. There will be something that people can watch on TV at home instead.
