I had the sore arm for 2 days after the first and second jab but this is totally different.
This is like someone pouring hot water over your skin. It’s obviously nerve pain. Just under 1000 people have listed it as a side effect on the Gov Yellow card website, and a few on other forums. Might be related to the jab being intra muscular hitting a nerve perhaps.
Had it a week today now, hoping it will go soon but will see my GP again if it persists.

However I would still tell people to get their vaccine done regardless. 1000 people out of a couple of million of a small number!

Very interesting and promising to hear him of all people say this, given that Whitty is usually one of the more pessimistic figureheads of the government’s COVID communications!

I don’t believe that Chris Whitty has ever said this, however; this kind of thing usually comes from some of the more optimistic figureheads of the government’s COVID communications, so to hear the usually rather pessimistic Chris Whitty say these things is rather promising!

Agreed. Those goal posts keep getting moved further down the field.

I find the ons spreadsheets and NHS spreadsheets very informative.

I honestly didn’t realize how many ppl died each week. 10k+ total deaths 1.5k covid.

I was also surprised about how small the number of ppl that die from covid in hospitals per week/day.

It’s about staying relevant I’m afraid now, I’m truly starting to believe now we must start to push back or these rules will stay for ever.
The government and the scientific community are starting to relish this power and the ease that we have obeyed, next will be we have to minimise travel because of climate change etc. etc. It’s been too easy for them.

The scientific community are not some conspiracy theory, it’s a group of people who work in science. It’s like saying there is a conspiracy of ice cream shop owners or shoe makers.

The worry at the moment is variants, they want infection rates lower whilst the vaccines kick in as that will reduce the mutation rate.

We have a libertarian minded PM and scientists don’t really crave power (wrong job for that), the “control” conspiracy doesn’t wash with either (as much as I hate Boris Johnson he’s not naturally authoritarian when it comes to rules on the population, his nature is fewer rules more money for rich people).

@Dave raises a good point with regards to Boris Johnson being very libertarian; in the past, he’s been known to very vocally criticise what he refers to as the “nanny state” (i.e. the state gaining more control over people’s lives), and he’s previously lobbied against things like the sugar tax, for example.

Remember, he was also the one who originally pushed the idea of herd immunity; he was not originally set on locking Britain down.

I certainly don’t think Boris wants full control of our lives, personally.

Borris Johnson isn't a libertarian anymore than Thatcher was (a hero of his). He's a populist. He says what he has to to win. And win he does do.

Tufton street is a thing but they are also libertarian, they want the poor to be poor but they don’t really want to see their mates struggling to turn a profit and the restrictions do that.

I mean it'd make sense if he did, given the restrictions he's imposed across the country - he's clearly in the high-risk category due to a respiratory condition, so he'd want to control the spread of the virus as much as possible...

What are you guys’ thoughts on this? Personally, I actually think this is a pretty good idea, as it would mean that young people can say they have full vaccination against COVID more quickly, and thus meaning that vaccine passports are arguably more justifiable and can be opened up to a wider range of people.

This is true, and I’ll be interested to see how the government gets around this. Will an alternative, such as a lateral flow test, be on offer?

If you are medically exempt from vaccines then just actually issue some form of proof that can essentially be an exemption from a vaccine passport.

The issue is more towards the unfairness of those who have had to wait for it. And it should rightly approach those anti-vaxxers with a consequence for their decision.

This I agree with 100%, nobody should gain an advantage until every adult has been offered the full vaccination.
The amount of 30 somethings attempting to jump the queue so they can go on holiday is ridiculous and can be stopped with a simple announcement from Boris, nobody goes on holiday until everyone has been offered the full dose.

You really hate young people don’t you I mean us 18 - 40 year olds have suspended our lives for a year so old folk don’t die even though Covid mostly doesn’t harm us so you know, cut us some slack!

Sorry I think you read that wrong (or I wrote it wrong, that’s also possible)
I’m defending young people! Why should the old get to bugger off on holiday when the young haven’t been vaccinated?
The point is also the 30 somethings jumping the queue with the sole intention of going on holiday whilst putting someone like myself (47 year old male) more at risk as it pushes me even further down the queue unfairly.
