Eh, at least BTM is getting some seriousely work. It is a shame about Space Mountain though, the original attraction does look miles better. :(

Well there clearly is increased investment, all of these rufrubs ready for 2017 demonstrate that. But clearly they are not at the level that we had all hoped for. It really is a pity.

Your almost certainly right, but it's possible the budget is being used for something else. Other than the ride "roughness" SM was one of the better looking parts of the park.

Until a new attraction is announced alongside the refurbs I remain sceptical. The park(s) need an enhanced line-up the most, the refurbs should be happening as standard to maintain the Disney standard

I just fail to understand how this park loses so much money - it attracts so many visitors who all pay a small bloody fortune to go, how can they still be struggling!? Is it all just operating costs or is there something larger at play here? The place has all the makings of a gold mine, I cannot work out how the resort fails to perform in so many ways.

They have eye-watering levels of debt. That pretty much compounds all their monetary issues.

I dispair with Disneyland Paris, I really do.

I want to adore it. So much.

    But it's so hard to.

The debt is to the parent co and part shareholders Walt Disney Company, so financially they are sound, but little equity remains within the company itself. Every time Walt Disney Co cancel debt they are either increasing their own equity stake, or rolling it on for a further few years. It isn't actually releasing any significant funds into the budget, and the debt is still to be paid back in one form or another. The more equity they buy back however the greater control they have over the park, which means better decision making

Following josht's post, InsideDLParis has reported that from the 11th July this year onwards, that the Jedi Training Academy will come to the Videopolis Theatre which explains the Hyperion refurbishment.

Well, at least there's 3 days this year when everything should be open!

The French government put huge pressures on the resort to open with huge levels of hotel capacity that wasn't needed forcing them into high levels of debt.

Europa-Park just announced 3 rides are being refurbished for next season.

Come on, Disney. Pick up the pace.

I thought Big Thunder Mountain was supposed to be closed for a year?

It is, I'd imagine there is just a type in the above screenshot and it should say 2016.

I saw some details earlier about the world Big Thunder is getting and it does sound fairly substantial. They plan on adding an extra car to each train so that it will have four trains overall and not five. Running the fifth train is apparently what has caused a lot of reliability issues due to the need for speedy dispatches. Sounds like it will also be getting the 'California' effect on the third lift hill. Other parts of the ride may need slight modification to cope with the longer trains.

    :)

Work on BTM is the most needed of all the coasters at DLP.

    It breaks down so often.

Removing a train should help, the system was badly set up originally and I believe if the ops don't dispatch quick enough it causes the brake down

Surely just running on four trains ultimately would mean more throughput with less breakdowns?

I have no idea though. Never been. NO idea about the ride at all.

Your cutting throughput by a 5th doing that and it's a hugely popular ride, an extra car on each train mitigates that problem a bit

I think he means that running with just 4 with no breakdowns, would be better than running with 5 trains WITH breakdowns.
