Djurs Sommerland: General Discussion

I like that, it's nice. Like a baby Cheetah Hunt.

Good length, good pacing, looks a lot of fun.

Shame the theming couldn't be more consistent, but the ride itself is solid.

As spotted by my friend Kian Kronvang, Djurs are dropping hints on Facebook about their 2014 addition.

Settled approx expands with a new Viking Land of 20,000 square meters! The new attraction will be "Dragon Ship", a 13 meter long Viking ship for the whole family which is located in a 9,000 square meter large lake, adorned with carved dragon heads, Viking sails and colorful shields. In addition, the current slide Thor's Hammer will be integrated into the new Land of the Vikings.

It seems to have leaked, the official announcement on the park's page, scheduled for today, isn't out yet. :)

Djurs have just announced a new kids area (and coaster) for 2015. :)

p.s. kiddie coaster experts, am I right in thinking this looks like a Tivoli Large?

Small Zierer products are not really my area of expertise, but straight away I thought it looked very similar to Rabalder at Liseberg and RCDB suggests it'll be the same model (Force Two). Tom y Jerry at Parque Warner is apparently a large Tivoli, and as far as I could tell is quite a bit bigger and longer (though obviously less refined and considerably more noisy).

EDIT: Large Tivolis are longer, but not as tall. Still not something parks should be choosing over Forces in this day and age!

Tis apparently to be the same as Rabalder, and this is spiting the current kiddie area (which I don't even remember at all, bar the Wacky Worm for the cred)...

Looks like a fab addition... Djurs is such a fab park <3

Decided to turn this into a general discussion thread relating to Djurs. Anyway, the park have announced that they are getting another new coaster in 2017 - a family suspended coaster:

Details:
  • Model: family suspended coaster
  • Manufacturer: unknown (but is there any other possibility than Vekoma??)
  • Height: 30m
  • Length: 825m
  • Top Speed: 85km/h
  • Extras: they will eventually reveal something that makes this ride "completely unique"
You'd think this would be Vekoma but it is apparently going to be an Intamin. Will be interesting to see what makes the ride unique!

EDIT:

Press release confirms that it is an Intamin:

New roller coaster in Djurs Sommerland 2017

Djurs Sommerland invests approximately 12 million € in a huge new family thrill ride, scheduled for completion when the park opens in May 2017. The ride is Djurs Sommerland’s biggest single investment so far and also the biggest single investment in a Danish amusement park. The new ride is Europe’s fastest and longest Family Suspended Coaster – with a combination of elements that makes the ride unique. These will be published at a later time.

• 30 metres tall.
• Maximum speed 85 km/h.
• 825 metres long.
• Expected height restrictions: Minimum 120 cm.
• Capacity: Approximately 750 passengers per hour.
• 2 trains with 14 passengers per train.
• G-force impact: Up to 4 G.
• Duration of ride: Approximately 2 minutes.

The ride manufacturer is Intamin AG, Liechtenstein – www.intaminworldwide.com – who has also supplied Djurs Sommerland with Piraten (2008) and Juvelen (2013). The roller coaster will be constructed in an area of approximately 10.000 square metres. The new ride will be a part of a new, extensive themed area.

Jora Entertainment -www.joraentertainment.com - who participated in the concept development of the themed area Bondegårdsland with 10 rides (2015) as well as the new ride Søulken (2016), will also be assisting in the new 2017 expansion.

The new ride will be the 27th ride addition since Djurs Sommerland built Denmark’s biggest roller coaster Piraten in 2008. During this period more than 53 million € have been invested in new rides and improvement in the park, and the visitor numbers have increased from 487.000 guests in 2007 to 801.000 in 2015. Follow Djurs Sommerland on facebook.com/djurssommerland for updates and pictures of the construction process.

I know there's a few of them around, but it still confuses me seeing Intamin track like that! I've never managed to do Djurs Sommerland yet, so interesting to see how it pans out. Always a fan of the old unique selling points too

It's got a good length to it (ahem), and seems to keep low to the ground. Looks fun to me. :)

Big fan of this. Like the section before the lifthill and it's length is brilliant. Definitely a top notch family coaster.

Wow, for a family coaster that looks fantastic! Some great speed and a really good legth, far betten the the Vekoma versions.

Hopefully the pre-lift section will see some nice theming.

:)

For a park with Juvelen in it, i don't think this looks anywhere near as good.

Djurs has enough family coasters really.

Looks a lot more intense than a Vekoma SFC. It has all the features of an Intamin with the fast pacing and tight transitions, even though it's a family coaster. I'm a fan. :)

For a family coaster it looks pretty intense, would love to see a park here get something like that. Lapbars are becoming more common as well which I think make such a difference.
