Dollywood: General Discussion

Construction photo from Dollywood's 'Footer Fridays' :p

I very much doubt that TG Cruise are doing work in that part of the USA. In fact, I bet it'll be hard for them to ever construct a coaster again.

2014 - FireChaser Express - (10/2/13) While there are still a lot of questions about just how the layout of Firechase Express will work, a press release from Gerstlauer about their 2014 project confirmed that in addition to the forward and backwards launch sections, the coaster will also feature “a reversing section”... whatever that means. I wonder if this is some kind of turntable to turn the train around.

Seems less likely to be a turntable section, and more likely to be a simple switchback, like at the end of Th13teen.

Dollywood have just posted the full animation of FireChaser Express:

It looks really good fun for a family/kids coaster. It's long, varied and looks like it has some nice theming. It's also interesting that the train can only enter and leave the station from the front, so it reverses back into the station.

:)

That looks good, and I mean really good! Looks like it has some nice themeing and the layout looks awesome.

Wow, this looks awesome! The perfect coaster for older kids which aren't quite brave enough for the larger rides.

This looks really cool, and that station thing is awesome.

Only thing I don't like is how high off the ground the opening is, could have done with making the drops bigger, I know it's a kid's coaster, but the exit to the turn at 0:48 could have been one hell of a dive, without being too intense. Ah well, only a small complaint, it does look great from start to finish.

It looks impressively thrilling for a Family Installation!

Themeing is pretty unique too.

I did giggle when I saw the manufacturer was Gerst, but you can hold me impressed instead.

It wouldn't usually post about a new temporary Christmas show in a park several thousand miles away, but then again...

General Park News - (11/8/13) First TuPac and now Dolly! Yes, Dolly Parton will appear to park guests at Dollywood as a hologram as the Ghost of Christmas Past during the “Dollywood’s A Christmas Carol” show which opens this Saturday, November 9th.
Parton’s Ghost of Christmas Past, Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmases Present and Future are life-sized holograms, marking the first time four actors appear via the cutting-edge technology in the same theatrical production. The show also features eight songs written by Dolly.
“When they told me they were going to make a hologram out of me, I thought they were crazy,” Parton said with a laugh. “But when I saw how real it looked on stage, I couldn’t believe it. I’m not sure this world can handle two Dolly Partons, but I’m excited folks will be able to see ‘the other Dolly’ reminding families that it’s not what you have but who you have, just like ole Scrooge figures out in the end.”

Having two of them is very important for her career...

Dollywood - 2014: Fire Chaser Express

I don't think this has been posted before, so here's a picture of Fire Chaser Express' layout from above:

More construction photos have been sent to Screamscape. It all looks really good, so far! :)

A little off-topic, but this kind of ride could work well for Thorpe Park, if they intend on bringing a few more families back to the park? It's not something that people after thrills would ignore but suitable for those who aren't into the white knuckle attractions, and it could easily support some kind of unique selling point, if required. Then again, a wooden coaster could tick that box too! ;)

Surely this is actually just a bigger thirteen?

About a million times better than Thirteen, but yes it is.
