Dollywood: General Discussion

A couple of new snaps of this frankly stunning looking coaster in an even more stunning setting, have been posted on Facebook by RMC tonight!

Oh my oh my... There are quite literally no words!! Dolly <3

I am really not a fan of the aesthetics of these.

But there always must be an exception to prove the rule.

That is <3

ACE Southeast had an event at Dollowood yesterday, The Winter Warm Up where they had a backstage construction tour of Lightning Rod. As part of the tour, Dollywood also unveiled the lead car of the coaster for them and well, it's certainly just as cool looking as the coaster itself!

That, is awesome.

Dollywood just get it.

That's how you do a family park Chessington!

(Although of course Chessington, used to be referred to as "that's how you do a family park).

Anyone on the forum actually been here? It looks full of charm, warmth, escapism, and beautiful scenery.

Maybe not escapism, but it's certainly got charm and beautiful scenery...

Probably becase old western themes are so old hat and overdone, however it does have some of the best theme park food...

Yeah, but it's "Dollywood", if it can't be Western there where can it lol?!

It's probably one of the only places where it's exactly what it should be?

Where it's actually dare I say it, authentic.

I don't think all of these photos are totally up to date, some may have been taken a few weeks ago, but RMC have posted some more photos of this stunning coaster to Facebook:

They've probably been slowed down somewhat with the snow but the track should be completed soon. This is due to open on March 19th so testing can't wait too much longer!

:)

I make no apologies for posting more photos of this stunning coaster!

Upstop Media have uploaded a load of photos taken on 11 February, here are a selection of the best:

The track is almost complete. Still awaiting photos of the quadruple down towards the end of the ride, I cannot wait to see that!

:)

I seem to be hogging this thread a bit! RMC have posted the following photo stating that there are just two pieces of track left to put up:

Let's hope testing the new launch system goes smoothly as this is meant to open in just over 3 weeks!

:)

Irvine Ondrey Engineering have been doing their PLC testing while the track is being installed and the main station work has also been done at the same time.

IOE posted this picture on the 23rd of clearance testing also happening at the same time

They seem to be doing all they can to make sure this is ready for opening!

That clearance testing thing doesn't inspire me with confidence lol! Looks like they fashioned it from some old bits of fence :tearsofjoy:

I am not a fan of how these look usually, and I am still WHOLLY convinced, but of all the ones I've seen, this one looks bloody good.

Track is complete and the train is on the track!

That photo is apparnently from last week so testing has almost certainly now begun. Apparently Dollywood have a special way that they want to present the testing so there is a strict ban on any videoing around the site at present. I'm sure it won't be much longer before we see something!

:)

I think it's gotten to that point where Dolly Parton is better at owning a park then she was at singing :p

Seriously though, this does look incredible! Dollywood is such an underrated park I feel, nearly everything they've done in the past 16 or so years looks incredible! :D
