Drayton Manor Park

I really do think with the care they took getting that skull out of the building. They do have big plans for the pirate adventure building.
The amount of money the looping group is spending on the new coaster, re-theming buildings and rides to fit the theme and the new trains on Shockwave, queue line re paint and track/supports. They easily got the money to build a good dark ride the whole family can all enjoy together.

At the minute we only know the over all rough 5 year plan . It wouldn’t surprise me at all if in the over all 10 year plan there’s something to do with the building. Looping so fare have addressed all the areas of the park that was in bad shape so it makes sense for them to tackle these areas first as you want guests to be going to both ends of the park. You don’t just want gets in the central of the park.

Another construction update
Drunken Barrels not a lot has happened since last week but there taken all the German stuff down.

The concrete supports have now been installed on the Apocalypse area

Shockwave had a lift hill eviction on Saturday afternoon and was still there on Sunday I hope it’s nothing major up with it.

I don't know if this is true but someone was told at guest services that its a major fault (hence why it has just been left on the lift hill since Saturday) and because its only got a week to run until they replace the train they may decide not to fix it which would mean cancelling the Shockwave Last Stand event and Shockwave may have already had its Last Stand.

I’m visiting on Sunday mainly to get a last ride on Shockwave in its current form, what a shame if the above is true. The ride deserves a proper send off.

The park haven't commented publicly at all on Shockwave's operations status over the weekend. The event page for Shockwave's Last Stand is still being advertised on the Drayton website. If there wasn't an intention to get the ride operational for it, one would presume that they would have pulled the event info by now and made a statement.

It's likely that Drayton are waiting for a proper assesment of the issue, which for various reasons couldn't take place over the weekend. I would imagine that their senior engineering team probably only work weekdays, or any specialist assesment they might need would only be available on a weekday.

The ride closures list is really bad now

It will be more like a lift hill motor or sensor has gone. As they had many evictions this season.

For Ride availability for this season it’s been awful at Drayton Manor. I not seen the rapids running since April.
I think they all not been down to maintenance but the amount of staff they lost since the start of the season.

At the RCCGB event we had a Q&A with somebody from the park, when they are short staffed they have to make the decision between close the rapids or close 5 or 6 of the smaller rides, so not surprising it frequently spends the day closed.

Hopefully they can get the staffing issues sorted close season. Next year is a big year for the park and they could really do with everything being open . I would say the same applies to Alton Towers as well.

It's nice to see the skull and thanks for the photos.

Concluding that they have big plans for the building on the basis they have carefully removed an old piece of scenery is one wild jump though my friend. Not sure I see the correlation there.

I’ve not been drayton in years, was thinking of returning this season but their ride availability is shocking this year. I would be annoyed if I had visited and the rapids, stormforce or shockwave was shocked. As they are probably the three headline attractions. Let’s hope they sort their maintenance and staffing issues out next season.
