If they see it's become popular this week they probably won't bother refurbing it now
Shhh, that’s the big surprise coming on 6th Sept..

No. The dark ride scenes don't lend themselves to to it and it'd be a lot of work to temporarily make the area safe. I suppose they could do something with the queue area and preshow, and use the old wheelchair entrance to get people out again through the shop.Is there a possibility they could they turn it into a walkthrough for Scarefest, then start the refurb in Nov?
Other brands are available, probably. Are we really now on to talking about the weight of polyfilla in each individually drilled hole? We don’t even know what’s happening yet
Possibly the greatest and funniest AT fact I've ever read!Yes well the ride system runs on PLCs which are super reliable though getting a little old in this case. Last thing I knew the gun system was running on a desktop PC using Windows ME.... I honestly don't know how it's lasted this long
Possibly the greatest and funniest AT fact I've ever read!
Or windows for submarines…
A yellow Submarine did though!Submarines don't have windows....

It won't happenJust three days left of Duel folks, get those last rides in!
As much as I'd love to ride duel on my first ever scarefest I'd feel like if they were to close it in September we could be seeing a pretty major overhaul ready for 2023.It won't happen
I bet you it will be an announcement not the actual close date

Oh I agree
I just can't see it closing without any pre announcements. I'd be happy to be wrong though .... the longer they have the better the refurb can be
To further this, if I remember correctly, Rita's launch is run by a PC on 98 or XP, and that still works perfectly well. This is not uncommon though. There is even a company called Nixsys who specialise in selling brand new MS-DOS, Windows 98, ME, XP machines, complete with brand new (old) hardware.
There are many many reasons why you would need to run legacy hardware and software. Aslong as the machine is not connected to the internet (which most of them are not in industrial settings) you do not have to worry about security.
At work we have just purchased a brand new Windows 98, Pentium 3 machine to control a piece of industrial machinery. The software works fine, reliable and robust. There is no point spending hundreds of thousands to re write the software to make it work on a modern OS, where we will get no real benefits. Much easier to buy a legacy system and run it that way..
If it works do not fix it. I suspect that is the case here with Duel. As you can almost class ride hardware in the same spectrum as industrial equipment.
It’s pretty rare for attractions to be announced as closing. The only ones I can think of are Black Hole and Corkscrew.
Most just close when they close with guests finding out after the fact including the likes of Flume, Ripsaw, Sub-Terra, Charlie, Twirling Toadstool, Submission and many many more over the years.
The sign put up in Duel is more ‘notice’ than most rides would get.
