In the indoor ride, similar to Fata Morgana and Droomvlucht, visitors ride in carts along with scenes mascot Pardoes. For the name Efteling was looking for an international term that is to be pronounced by foreign visitors. Symbolica is a fictional planet from the world of Pardoes. The new name is also a tribute to the 2013 deceased Efteling designer Henny Canute, the creator of Pardoes and Symbolica. He was a great advocate of the mascot a solid, giving central location in the park. "Where visitors could find him, because he was always just there and everywhere around", he said in an interview. "Something which people could see: here lives, lives and sleeps Pardoes the Tovernar."Actually, the attraction had already in 2012 should be opened, in honor of the sixtieth anniversary of the Efteling. Oh, hang on, it seems there's been a shake up in ride systems. It's no longer the KUKA-esque thing by Vekoma as Efteling have decided it's now going to be trackless.

The gigantic new Efteling attraction Symbolica going to look very different than previously thought. Efteling chooses a transport system with little turning carts. Remarkably, the carriages move without rails.

This can reveal Looopings after talks at amusement fair EAS in Sweden. In the "trackless dark ride 'to the containers follow an invisible trail in the ground.Passengers meanwhile, scenes with Efteling mascot Pardoes dished. The system is supplied by the Dutch company ETF Ride Systems, located in the Limburg Nederweert. ETF director Ruud Koppens that does not confirm to Looopings. "At the moment I can not say that we are doing something for the Efteling "he says." I do not know."Actually, the attraction would be built by manufacturer Vekoma. Efteling had a ritsysteem in mind with big, rolling stands at a kind robot arm. This plan is of course confirms Vekoma Account Manager Charlotte van Etten. "Efteling has opted for something else." Symbolica are tens of millions of euros cost. This makes it the largest and most expensive attraction ever Efteling. The opening year has been postponed several times since 2012. In presenting the original plans of the dark ride went through life as Hartenhof. Efteling can not respond to the content. "It is intended that the attraction will be realized by 2020", is the one that releases a spokeswoman said. Builder ETF Ride Systems already worked with the Efteling. The Limburg company gave in 2012 the technique of The Emperor's New Clothes in the Fairytale Forest. There are fairy tale characters on carts driving around without rails.Theme park fans will know of ETF attractions like Challenge of Tutankhamen (Walibi Belgium) and Maus au Chocolat (Phantasialand). Can anyone give me a quick run down on what Hartenhof is/was? Is this a really long revamp of the ride? Is it still open?

Hartenhof does not exist, except for a mention on the back of the Polles Kitchen menus. The ride was first announced about 5 years ago but nothing has ever materialised.

Symbolica is a different ride entirely by the sounds of it, though the storyline will probably be similar to what was originally planned for Hartenhof.

In another bump for this topic, some exciting news. This morning Efteling have posted on all their social media outlets that the new dark ride, Symbolica will open in the summer of 2017!!

The ride will apparently be located in the centre of the park. This is very exciting indeed! The prospect of a brand new modern dark ride at Efteling really is so exciting, you only have to look at how well this did in the 80's/90's and then again with the indoor sections of DVH, this could be incredible!

Well, it's safe to say they're not wasting any more time finally getting this thing open, as today, the day of the announcement Efteling is once again filled with it's characteristic construction walls. The diggers are in, the paving is up and trees are being removed, finally Efteling mean business with this project!

As exciting as the project is, it has to be said much like DisneyLand Paris, 2016 isn't going to be the year to visit Efteling, much like 2012 wasn't the year to visit Phantasialand. That is frankly a huge construction site slap bang in the centre of the park... More than likely making it even more difficult to navigate than it already was :p

Efteling have officially started construction on Symbolica, driving the first of 646 piles into the ground:

Seems a lot bigger than first thought? After Baron, I can't wait to see what they pull off with this!

I don't know Efteling at all having never been, but that does look like a massive site! Are they basically building this ride in place of a central plaza?

Something about it all reminds me a little of Mystic Manor, and with seating consisting of 2 rows of 3 it shoulld be great for single riders should they have such a queue.

:)

Wow... I didn't realise it was going there. However will this the iconic building that Efteling is missing? Disney have their castles, is this Eftelings castle? Will be a great walking down the main parade and seeing this at the end.

This should be the best dark ride in Europe.

Disney don't get the value, pound for pound, out of the money they spend.

This is pretty much the biggest dark ride project Europe has seen outside of Disneyland Paris in the past 20 years.

Unless you count Derren Brown.
