Efteling: General Discussion

Wow! That plaza area definitely seems a lot bigger than I remember when I visited.

This will hopefully be one treat for a ride though when it opens next year if the likes of Baron & Dutchman are anything to go by.

Shame that some garden features seem to have been removed though.

So Symbolica is progressing rather nicely, I can't quite believe that Efteling are building another ride only 2 years after their last one opened!

The building doesn't look quite as big as I expected for a transit style dark ride but depsite not yet having the pleasure of visiting Efteling I have no doubts that this will be something very good.

Also it is nice to see them so far down the line with their 2017 attraction, EP take note (their 2017 dark ride site is still being used as a car park)!

To be fair... their 2016 attraction still looks a bit like a car park if you squint!

I think Efteling do everything they can to prevent another Vliegende Hollander incident.
 
I'm going to Efteling in a couple of weeks! I went last year without realising Baron was there. Was there 3 days after opening I think, it was immense! Looking forward to this in 2017!

My main reason for posting is, does anyone know if Efteling do a season pass? I can't see anything online but figured there must be one? Any ideas?
 
Turns out Efteling do a season pass. Can pay monthly too, although whether they will let a Brit have it monthly remains to be seen. Gives you one free entry to phantasialand too from what I can make out too. Might attempt buying one later!

Didn't realise it had been so long since I provided an update on this!

First of all though, Vekoma hosted some sort of open day over the weekend and showed off their prototype of the ride system that was to be used on the infamous Hartenhof ride (which has now been shelved and replaced by Symbolica):



The prototype only features one seat but the actual ride would have featured 24 seats on the arm.

Anyway, construction of Symbolica has come a long way since the photos above. Credit to plaetjesmakers.nl for the photos:

This is probably the most exciting new addition in Europe next year!

It reminds me a lot of Mystic Manor in terms of how the exterior looks. Whether the ride itself will be similar I have no idea. I haven't been following this one too closely. Do we know anything about the story line yet?

That prototype ride system is very interesting. Hopefully they'll make use of the technology in a future project as it would be a shame for all of that development to go to waste. Plus I'd love to see what Efteling could do with a ride system like that.

Isn't it nice to see something that actually resembles the concept art as well?
 
It looks really good, as do most attractions at Efteling.

Does anyone know if Monsieur Cannibal and Carnival Festival are getting updated in the near future? In the summer I read that Efteling had invited people to visit and discuss their issues with the rides but don't remember seeing the outcome? I had a look around and can't find anything recent to suggest anything other than that this will blow over again until next time.

Looks stunning :) looks like Alton could learn a thing or two about what I call real themeing ;)

It's been a good few years since I last been to Efterling, looks like I need to book a trip to go there in the next few years :D The only thing stopping me is Jess's health :(
