The changes to make "racist It's a small world" a "slighlty less racist it's a small world" has been completed at Efteling.

The African area changes look great and the new music is a better fit than the weird ambient jungle and monkey noises. The Asian sections still seem a bit bizarre, the dolls have had some minor improvements but slit eye is still prevalent.

One cool feature they have added for disabled users is a new announcement for people to board. When the boat stops most of the animatronics pause and "Attention! The gondolas are stopping for a fanfare." is blasted out.

Then when they get set off again the Orchestra is counted back in with a new announcement "Attention! The gondolas can continue, because the fanfare is done. Attention! The gondolas are setting off again. Orchestra, attention! And one, two, three, four ..."

The fanfare was ripped from the Efteling Tycoon game.

Spoilerific list of changes and some new pics

Damn. I always liked the old “Careful everybody! We’re about to stop the coaches!” It felt like they were giving advanced warning to brace yourself. Those omnimovers can cause serious whiplash you know! :p

I’m glad to see that this hasn’t received a heavy-handed sanitation. It must be tempting to er on the side of caution with these things, for fear of offence. Any option you take risks upsetting somebody though; it looks like Efteling are trying to tread that tightrope.

It looks nice, and it’s good to see they have t changed too much of it, but it does looks a lot fresher, clearly with lots of new lights and repainted sets.

Also good to see the photo kiosk is now a shop as well and looks much better than before.

Also like the party music when the ride stops.

For the benefit of anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, this is the new ridestop sequence:

Not only is it there new audio, there’s also new lighting to accompany it! They’ve basically made the ride stops a feature! Oh Efteling :tearsofjoy:

For those who haven’t experienced this ride, originally there would be a bilingual stoppage announcement, then the normal music and effects would continue until they restarted.

Here are a few news thingies about Efteling.

Last month, a new stained glass effect was installed on the windows at the top of House of the Five Senses.

As Bob is closing in September this year, Efteling has released a song performed by Steenbok Plein's Jürgen Freilich which'll be sung during the Summer Festival (each Friday and Saturday this month and August).

And the Efteling Museum has a new interactive Sprookjesbos exhibition.

The bus has been around for just over 2 months. Here's the original Looopings article.

There was a DFDS seaways advert advertising the park on the local York radio station the other day. It's nice to see them branching over here a bit more, if they can package up a break nicely enough then I can see them stealing a bit of Merlin's steam in the North East

They've been advertising on Capital for quite a while now to be honest, and Jet2 have been advertising package holidays there too.

Great video that, love the whole experience Baron gives.

Anyone got any idea for the exact date Bob will close next month? I'm visiting early August and am hoping it'll be third times a charm to get on it.

    I'm sure it's September :)

Got on it for the first time in May and genuinely feared for my life at one point. It's ace :D
