Efteling: General Discussion

So the past few years I must've half watched so many Andre Rieu concerts, just randomly turned one on and suddenly a tune I know very well started.
From: https://youtu.be/buL_0Kl3hvM
Well that was strange. What's with the red noses?
Going to have that damn tune in my head all day now!

I don't want to imagine what it was like before the retrack then!Kudos to CSM who did the re-track of Python, it is wonderfully smooth and very enjoyable!

Imagine a coaster that's RCT3 in real life, sharp polygons and all. That

Efteling have posted a new concept of the Efteling Grand Hotel as well as a few other images in a new blog post:
The new entrance area will be known as the Island of Five Senses and is set to act as a cover of a book: the start and end of your adventure in Efteling.
I think the aerial construction image is likely a few weeks old, as groundwork appeared more advanced when I was there last week.

Dreamflight is closing for six months for what sounds like a major refurbishment.
Translation: Dreamvlucht is having a major maintenance! From October 31, the attraction will close and open on March 4. Thanks to the maintenance we can enjoy beautiful flights past castles, elves, trolls and planets for a very long time.
Will you come by soon for a visit to Dreamvlucht?

I wonder if this is significant maintenance of the ride system as opposed to the scenes? Having ridden it only a few weeks ago I would never have guessed it was in need of major maintenance, it was a delight!
EDIT:
Some more details of the refurbishment:
I'm intrigued as to what effects were broken when I rode it!

Whilst lovely that they are looking after rides before the a falling apart (unlike some parks we could name) this feels like very short notice for such a major ride to be closed for a long time.

Agree that the ride seemed to be in pretty excellent condition in the summer. Unless there are some planned improvements to the theming, one can only imagine it’s more to do with the ride system or some other logistical upgrade. Bit of a miss to have a major indoor ride closed for the winter period.

They say installing LED lighting, I suspect this if the main reason for the closure as number of older lighting types are being taken off sale in the EU on 24th February 2023, guess they must use alot of the no longer supported lighting types.

Although the Dreamflight maintenance announcement seems abrupt, a Wayback Machine search on Efteling's Closed Attractions page shows it's been pending since at least 25th August, alongside many other annually maintained attractions. Considering the park is open all year round plus the reasons listed by @Efteling_News and the EU lighting type changes, especially roof maintenance, they'll understandably need all that quiet period time. And remember that it'll be celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2023.

Cheeky double post featuring two lots of unrelated news, one that's over a week old but still.
Efteling have released a "Making Of: Danse Macabre" teaser.
The first episode will launch on October 31st at 8am GMT.
And they have introduced a new character, Bouwmeester Big aka Master Builder Pig aka the Third Little Pig, to promote the Grand Hotel and other projects with. Here's a translated excerpt from Efteling's blog article and two Eftewesley videos.

I have to admit, I don't like Bouwmeester Big's design and he looks like he's staring into my soul

Master builder Big
Who doesn't know him? Builder Big! He is the third, clever piglet from the fairy tale "The Three Little Pigs", who built a house of stone so that the wolf could not blow it over. A specialist in sustainable construction and with real materials. His motto: 'For a job with a curl!'.
Master builder Big was previously involved in famous buildings in the world and was widely praised for it. Now he is master of all construction work in the World of Efteling: a world full of fairy tales, legends, legends and wonderful buildings.

Look, I don't want to make a habit of posting after myself in this topic (I'm honestly not a raging Efteling enthusiast, not that there's anything wrong with that) but the first Making Of: Danse Macabre video and a ride hardware demo video were both released today.

They have released a new blog post regarding Danse Macabre, which confirms that the completely new ride system has been developed with Intamin (what could possibly go wrong...!). They describe it as "a cross between a dynamic thrill ride and a spectacular show".
