Apparently it's a company called CSM, who have also done fabrication work on rides like Helix, De Vliegende Hollander and Pulsar.Do we know who is manufacturing the new track & supports?

Before Python closed Efteling trialed their own version of Disney's Fast Pass system. Were the normal queue is shut and you reserve your time slot to go ride - the result being you won't need to wait longer than 15 mins.
Efteling deemed the test a success and will keep this system on Python. And they are also testing it on Symbolica on several busy days in March, a spokeswoman confirms to Looopings. "Symbolica is a completely different kind of attraction than the Python," she explains. "We want to test the system at a hotspot that is very popular, and we're very curious to see how it goes."
During the experiment, the regular queue of Symbolica was closed. Visitors must therefore reserve a ride in the Palace of Fantasy in advance. This can be done via the Efteling app or at special ticket machines for the attraction. Because a maximum number of visitors is allowed per time, the queue remains short. At the moment Efteling does not yet have plans to install the reservation system on other rides.

They deemed it a success? Urhg. I love Efteling, I hate this to the extent that rolling it out across the park would seriously put me off visiting. I want to enjoy a theme park, not be glued to the park app having to work out when I can go on certain rides.

Their park app is some kind of voodoo. It's accuracy is incredible! Even the separate time bar based on your proximity to the attractions is spot on.
At least the fast pass is free and on limited rides/days. They also mentioned it's capped in the article, which reassures me that they realise that it can have a negative impact on guest experiences.

Looopings are now reporting that the 2020 project will infact be a coaster. And it will be from Intamin.
But before everyone gets excited about the possibility of a Blitz at Efteling, it is thought that it could be family coaster with a circus theme; possibly with indoor and outdoor sections and some form of special element (drop track maybe?).

Indeed. Even though they recently built Baron 1898, they definitely seem like a family park at heart, so this will probably suit them better than an Intamin Blitz would, even though an Intamin Blitz would probably be better to ride! That could actually be quite a nice coaster for somewhere like Efteling.

So was the family drop coaster idea ditched, then? Or is this a family launch coaster with a drop track?

Could be either, could be neither, could be both. They've probably only recently finalised the first wave of plans themselves. We've got over two years to go yet. Don't worry though, Efteling rarely dissapoint.

If Baron 1898 and Symbolica give me any idea of what to expect, then I'm excited!Don't worry though, Efteling rarely dissapoint.![]()

I was disappointed by both Symbolica and Baron 1898...
But I'm still excited by this development. I think we looking at a family launch coaster like Juvelen at Djurs Sommerland with a trick track element. Which if done well could be great and will fill a gap in Efteling's line up (launch coaster + steel family coaster with a longer ride duration).

So sort of like if Verbolten at BGW had been built by Intamin? But I'm still excited by this development. I wouldn't say that Joris looks particularly short from photos and videos, but other than that, I agree with you! Although Vogel Rok also looked pretty long when Sammy posted the layout in the Geek League.Efteling need to build a long coaster.

On a random note, may I ask why everyone thinks that De Vliegende Hollander's coaster section is so awful? Because I don't think it looks that bad, and the dark ride section looks stunning!

Oh, I assure you Vogel Rok is short, fast paced but very short! A brilliant ride, fast better than its big brother down the road at Phantasialand that’s for sure! Joris is the best coaster there in terms of length, but again certainly not the longest.
As for DVH, the dark ride section and queue are absolutely stunning indeed, the coaster section is undeniably poor however. How something rides never translates entirely in a video, but the ride is just clunky! That’s the only way to describe it really. The boats are insanely big and cumbersome for a coaster, imagine putting a POTC boat on a track! They just don’t manoeuvre very well, the fact it spends the rest of the ride on a drive chain sort of tells you how over engineered that ride is! Also, that poor lift hill chain

In terms of the next coaster for the park, I know they are predominately family focussed, but the prospect of an intamin launch is intriguing to say the least. It could potentially be thrill, Baron was a step up after all!
