Danish park have announced an exciting looking new Vekoma family ride for next season. It goes 'under water' and everything! This park already have S&S woodie Falken and Gerstlauer launch Lynet.

For a family coaster it looks like it could be quite intense in parts, but I don't see the need for such a tall lift hill compared to the rest of the ride.
Also interesting that they went for the two-across trains as opposed to the four-across on Battlestar Galactica at Universal Singapore;

By the way, it's not confirmed that it's by them, but as someone on CF put it, "it screams Vekoma".

I think it looks great. The landscaping's a nice touch.

When I saw the first image I was impressed, but I really think the dive into the tunnel and overbank should come later on, as a centrepiece to build up to; the ride seems to peak to soon with it at the start, leaving the rest of the ride to just meander around for a bit. Hopefully the tall lift hill means it flies around the course pretty fast. Nice landscaping.

I haven't found anything significant regrading the construction of this new coaster other than this one photo that the park posted a couple of months ago on their Facebook page:

This is an image of the lake being drained so that they can pour concrete, which I assume is probably done or nearly done now (guess work on my behalf)? It's a shame there aren't any more recent images to go from, though this was uploaded only a few weeks prior to the park apparently closing (on September 9th) until next season. If anyone else can find anything more up-to-date, that would be brilliant!

Orkanen now has a RCDB page too.

Regarding the trains, they're like the one's currently used on the Jimmy Neutron's Atomic Flyer coaster at Movie Park in Deutschland:

The one's shown in the Orkanen video:

Vekoma class these coasters as SFC's (Suspended Family Coaster). Orkenen will be the largest of the SFC rides.

Big construction update from Coaster Friends here...

Some of the ride buildings are pre-assembled so they can go up quickly once they're needed.

This is the tunnel being made for first drop that will head under the man-made lake that the park is creating.

I assume these are for footers?

Lots of concrete has been done.

Track time!

Again, visit the link at the top for all of their photos of what looks set to be a great ride!

:)

I'd really like to try either this or Kvasten at Grona Lund, which I think is one of the more substantial SFCs Vekoma have built. Jimmy Neutron's Atomic Flyer is a great little coaster, and is probably the most well engineered Vekoma I've ever encountered. It feels like it was built by a company that knows what it's doing, not one that used to cobble together corkscrew coasters!

Great update Al.

Vekoma track has evolved hasn't it, a bit like a blend of Premier and B&M dare I say it.

The lads getting into that lorry though? I thought the next picture would be of them carrying it around on their shoulder ;D

Has Vekoma grown up?

Looks completely like Premier. Nothing like B&M though, no box section, the track is in general too thin and the cross ties are too close together.

And a man made lake for this ride? Can't fault them for effort :p

Hmmm, interesting. The track seems to have protective plastic caps on the ends of the rails for transport. I don't recall seeing these on any other company's track when it's turned up on site.
I wonder if any other new Vekomas have had these? It certainly makes sense, the rails are the bit you want to protect most, and the ends are easily knocked during transport and construction.

I've seen them on quite a few rides although normally they are removed before anyone gets any pictures of them. Also I'm not sure if they are plastic or metal with a particularly thick plastic coating, I'm sure the others I've seen have been metal.

Here are some on SheiKra for example:

This is really gonna spite me by not opening isn't it?

Already testing? Come on Farup, 25th May opening please!!!!!!

It's not often you watch a testing video and think "crikey, that's fast!" :D
